Recorded live at the Easter Vigil on March 30, 2024 at the St. Lawrence Center at the University of Kansas

The story of this little motet is fun: My wife, Megan, found a recording of this a while ago from an album titled "Polyphonies oubliées" by Ensemble Gilles Binchois, but given the premise of the album title, it was an anonymous source. I looked up sheet music for it with no success, and since it was a simple enough three-voice fauxbourdon, I just transcribed it instead. I love that it is a familiar melody and so can relate to the modern ear, but with a medieval color that unites the modern experience to the continuous thread of the Sacred Music tradition of the Church. This ended up being one of the favorites of the Schola to sing as we prepared for the Vigil, and although we didn't get through the whole story at the Mass (remaining verses are listed below), we at least got to introduce the story of Thomas by the 5th verse, hence the Caravaggio as the backdrop. And - it provides a subtle link to the Vidi Aquam we sang earlier!
