This question is hard... Because where I live is tropical Forest and my trials are mostly wet and muddy or in the river waterproof is a must for me. I generally don't like to many buttons but I like some that I like😂. I like long proper scale type trail drives, typical 5 or 6 km per drive and around 5 hours of time on the trail...so brushed with unlocking diffs and two speed (there is a few longer sections that running at a brisk jog is nice) without overdrive and winch is my normal go to. But.... My one 6th scale Willys is brushless with dig, and winch, and Iove that too. For a big trail rig it needs the grunt everywhere and efficiency that brushless brings. My other 6th scale Willys has a 3 speed gearbox and two winches (front and rear. Needs it for the terrain if I'm playing properly😊) with all the scale goodness operated from the remote I also have a simple MST with short wheel base and only two channels that I love driving. Really depends on how I feel about the trails on a given day

From what I understand, I’m an outlier (I don’t know for sure since I have precisely zero tiny wheelin’ buddies to compare against). I’m in the as-simple-as-possible-but-give-me-lockable-diffs camp. I don’t need a ton of features, but at the same time I derive the most enjoyment from driving my tiny trucks just as I would drive my 1:1. Can’t make it in 2 wheel drive? Shift to 4. Can’t make it with open diffs? Hit the locker or lockers as needed. Thus, I love it when I can have a tiny truck with lockable diffs, an option to run in 2 wheel drive, etc. It just makes the experience so much more realistic and enjoyable for me.

Fossil wrist watches -personally idk I like the rear axle to unlock the most and use it as a light dig function jamming the tire into the body on sharp turns or helps from Flipping back in slow steep climbs. I like the 2spd in my trx6 hauler but that’s about it it’s appropriate IMO. I recently installed a 1.5” light bar on the front bumper and rock lights both with light controllers on separate circuits. And absolutely enjoy turning them on and off. My 4ws Capra that’s only way I want it two steer axles and dig. But my dig I flipped the coged shaft so it works as neutral. Have enough portal front box OD. I prefer the neutral aspect of it.

I like all the Bells & Whistles. I have been really enjoying learning to use the dig function, and my VS4-10 4WS GroundFox VRD-twin has become my favorite rig to take out on the rocks, but there is also something to be said for the simplicity of the VRD Carbon and the challenge of not having the rear steer to get over obstacles, and Dig to cheat those tight turns. I like to take the two out together and I will run the same lines to see just what difference having the extra options creates.

I like having both sorts of trucks, there's times when it's just fun to drive a 2 channel truck and the reward of getting over stuff through pure driving skill. I like both. For really hitting hard lines I like my simple 10.2 deadbolt with f10 axles without any bells and whistles, but for trailing I like my Phoenix with OD and Dig or my TRX-4 bronco with all the options. When trailing I like to challenge myself with the open diffs. The brushed motor set up works well with the light kit so I like having the 2 speed for the torque. Traxxas also has a better 2 speed than axial, the axial one is basically useless.

I have always kept my rcs simple when it comes to bells and whistles. My scx6 is the only truck I have that has a two speed in it. All of them do have mamba x so I do have the drag brake on/off and my c2 comp truck had a winch. I recently put a bta mount on it and it took the room of where the winch used to be. I have never really liked winching anyways so i may leave it off. I'd rather drive the course. I brought up to a buddy how i liked how the we rock comp was set up with nobody having a winch and how it forced you to really drive the course.

I have examples of all the crawlers; simple element RC design to Traxxas with everything but dig. The function I use the least of any is dig, unlocking the front, rear or both diffs depending on the situation gives you the same effect with more control than you get in most circumstances you'd use dig without upsetting the chassis. Rarely I think a quick pivot turn is useful... But still do it when I have a dig model with me. If I'm going to a location for the first time, trx4 and Element Trailwalker on the trip. If I've been there before and know what the terrain is then I consider others like vanquish or axial models. The perfect model would be a TRX4 with dig.... Give me the buttons

I like both at times. Super simple trucks are so fun to drive in certain situations. Then having dig, and 4ws, and selectable overdrive is fun. I never used the unlocking diff, and the 2speed isn’t needed.
@Casitascrawlers
3 ай бұрын
The more features the more things that can break especially when you add more servos & moving parts. And remind me again why we need locking & unlocking difs? Most Crawlers have locked difs because that gives you the best traction overall & your right having a brushless motor gets rid of the need for 2 speed. I’m thinking about the mini crawlers & since they keep improving I wouldn’t doubt we get more minis with multiple functions like the 1:10 scale crawlers they already have 2 speed but I haven’t seen any with locking unlocking difs dig etc. & I’m sure it’s a lack of space that makes it harder to install more stuff on such a small chassis.
@allmightygreat1892
3 ай бұрын
Open diffs allows the wheels to travel at different speeds when turning. This helps prevent vehicle roll over. Locked diffs needed to crawl for traction. If the diffs were open while crawling the wheels will spin and the other wheel will stop. Resulting in lose of traction.
