I listened to this the day I walked out of prison, 4th Nov 2004, after years of drugs and over 60 convictions, 8 years in jail. Today I've been drug free for 23 years and jail free for 20 years this year , now working with guys in jail through the church and Alpha course to save those that like me were helpless..

Exactly. How could anyone put a thumbs down on this performance. It's Paul Freakin' Weller! But even besides that, it's a great song, and a great performance. Who can't feel the meaning in the song, I know he does. For whatever reason you are looking for a brand new start: from drugs, drinking, divorce, loss, environmental issues....it resonates. I tear up everytime I hear this performance. It re-energizes me, and reminds me to try to be the best I can be. Maybe that sounds corny, but I would think everyone should be able to get something out of the song and this performance in particular. I can loop it and play it over and over again.

@@michaelreddington658 Such a blast from the past. My brother, words fail me to describe how fortunate I've been. Got two boys, a third child on the way. Years in a job that, while my mentors are a decade younger than me, pays well, is in high demand & I don't hate. Married to a good woman; she's difficult at times, but she does love me. It astounds me to see how I felt I "knew how the world works" 10 years ago, how I was so close to "slipping away" some 16-17 years ago. Thanks for the kind words. I really, wholeheartedly hope you're also leading a great life.

I remember when this album came out" Days of Speed" I then went to see Paul Weller at Croydon. The security told me to sit down and many others. This man played his heart out and we sang and shouted our hearts out too. The security didn't know what to make of us all. As after all it was an acoustics gig he gripped the audience like he only knows how to. The man is a must see. This song is one of my favourites and got me away from a few ugly demons.
