I really agree with you. My osteopath said to me that the surrounding structures of the shoulder have to be strengthened with prescribed exercise in order to calm the inflamed bursa down. An inflamed tendon will irritate the bursa and an inflamed bursa will irritate the tendon. You have to try to break that cycle for shoulder impingement to heal. Good posture is important too.

how are you getting on Colin? Did your osteo give any tips on how to break that cycle?

Amazing pain relieve. As a PT I believe that exercises like this that relieve pain should always be combined with strengthening exercises in order for pain to lessen in the long term. Great exercise/approach, will definitely share with clients. Thanks

Appreciate that mate! I find there’s always more to the picture than just the immediate symptoms that someone has. Finding that broader perspective is crucial to truly being able to give someone the chance to fix something long-term!

I've had persistent painful bursitis now for nearly 7 months (confirmed by ultrasound), at first it was so bad I would wake up every morning about 5am in agony, it's not 'that' bad now but still painful and restrictive. I will try your exercises here and hope that finally fixes it! Thanks for the vid!

My chronic bursitis hurts when I reach across the front, but not when I lift my arms up or out to the sides. Any suggestions? Physio (with the tension band) exacerbated it.

would this also work for A bursitis and tendinitis caused by a hyper extension injury rather than an imbalance of muscles ? I’m three months in so I’m going to add it to my other physio exercises , I’ve had two Cortizone injections and they have worked on extent but far from 100% healed

It’s hard to say without assessing you for myself Darrin. If there’s surrounding muscle and joint restrictions they could in theory be influencing everything else around that restriction - of which a bursa and tendon could be impacted.

I've had bi-lateral bursitis for 15 years. I've lost all the muscle in my shoulders as a result. I've had numerous bouts of physio and steroid injections and nothing helps. I'm absolutely desperate for a solution, so I'll try this out.

sad to see all the people that have such shoulder problems, i've had it for 2 years and it didn't go a way so I went to the best shoulder specialist/surgeon around here and he said its caused by bad allignment and moving it not correctly ( he told me he had around 4 patients DAILY that came there with the same problem after trying to figure it out for years), I went to a specific fysio he recommended and after a couple of months doing the exercises where i've worked on moving it properly it's pretty much gone. Go see if you can find a doctor that really knows what he's talking about.

Thank you, what a revelation. My bursa is sticking out a mile. Will be poulticing with potato tonight. How often..does it break fibroblasts?

I will try it. I like the explanations! I had pain on my right shoulder for more than 10 years. Now I have pain in my left shoulder but my age does not permit to be patient for another 10 years! I hope these exersices help because physiotherapy and swiming help only temporarily, until the next slight forbiden movement which starts the pain allover!
