In this video, we’ll walk through some key information from the Quick Start guide that is attached to the front of your oven when it first arrives.
Once your oven has been connected to electric power, your first step is to turn it on with the main switch. Zero is off, one is on. You’ll see light appear in each deck. Then you’ll turn each of the decks on with the deck on/off buttons. Note that you’ll also see the power light and turbo light come on. The turbo light will only come on when the oven is starting up from cold.
When the decks are on, your next step will be to turn the oven to your desired temperature with the plus / minus button. Holding down the button will make the numbers move faster. Once it’s set, you don’t have to do anything else. Right at the beginning, when your oven is cold, you’ll see the power light and turbo light come on. The turbo function gets the oven up to temperature very quickly. If you press and hold the set button the readout will show the ambient temperature of your oven and the settings of the heat zones, which we’ll discuss next.
Once you’ve set your temperature, the next step is to set your desired top and bottom heat. The top zone is the bank of heaters along the top of the oven chamber. The bottom heaters are below the hearthstones in the bottom of the oven. For your heat settings, zero is off, ten is maximum, and you’ll use the plus/minus button to move these settings to your desired level.
There is also a third heat zone, front heat, which is set in relation to the top heat. We discuss how to do this in detail in our Front Heat Zone video.
Please note, if you press and hold the deck on/off button for more than three seconds, you’ll see the auto button turn green, which puts the oven in ‘auto mode.’ If you get into this mode by accident, you can just reset by holding the deck on/off button again for about three seconds until the green auto light turns off.
There’s also a timer button that looks like a clock. You can watch our Timer Operation video for details on how to use that function.
On the front of the oven to the left of the decks, there is a lever for the flue, which is a small opening in the back left corner of the oven. When the lever is pulled out the flue is open, when it’s pushed in the flue is closed. Check out our Baking Tips video for more about when to open the flue based on what you want to achieve in your bake. One quick tip for now is that the flue should always be open when you’re baking pizza.
Next, it’s a good idea to watch our Burn Off video, where we walk through the startup steps that you have to complete before you can bake in your oven, described on Quick Start guide page 3. All of the buttons and functions mentioned in this video are listed in your Quick Start guide, as well as in your owner’s manual beginning on page 24.
