WEEK 3: I'm preparing to install my windows and Maxxair fan, but while I wait for materials I better seal the holes that were left after removing the D-rings.
The fun part, planning and layout of your van. I got alot of memories looking inside your van. Back at my last 9-5 job in 2014 I drove a 2015 Promaster 3500 as an HVAC technician. I remember on my last day I had that truck new with 7 miles and I put 137k in 2ys. Lots of memories in that van. Great vid!

What a gorgeous looking lady. Cute bunny too. I've watched several of her videos and she's doing lots of nice video trips and making great progress on building her van. Nice camara angles. You mentioned about Christmas decorations already and it's still not even Thanksgiving yet. Yeah, that always got me for years. It seems like they go right from Halloween straight into Christmas and seem to forget all about Thanksgiving. They completely bypass it. I also love her accent. It sounds awesome!

I started watching your videos to build a future Van and I discovered your little bunny. I adopted a three-week-old baby who I kept for his entire 9-year-old life. He was free in the house, he was clean and obedient, he knew the rooms of the forbidden house and respected it. He brought me a lot of happiness. I used Tobasco to protect the places he wanted to bite and it was a great idea. For several years, I have looked at self-built vans almost every day. I've always dreamed of doing this and I know the day is coming. I'm from Quebec and I'm going to watch all your videos since purchasing your Ram. It's my first choice too but I'm giving myself three more years to see the new electric or 4x4 models. I wish you a great day and long life to your bunny. (Translated with Google)

I applaud your efforts lovely lady❤ A few suggestions from someone who has restored classic cars and boats for decades.. 1) do not cut the structural framework on the van walls unless you are going to replace it, It creates the rigidity and stiffness for the wall panels. Better to relocate the windows slightly. 2) something along the lines of a folding or accordion style door would be better suited for behind the cab portion or even a heavy cloth curtain in a sliding track that can attach securely and also be tied back. 3) Consider filling all the interior voids with undercoating and foam for rust protection, insulation and sound deadening. 4) Look at a Volkswagen Rialta RV for an idea of a bathroom shower combination, holding tanks and pumps can get complicated, consider an outdoor shower. Keep it going !

So it dawned on me when you mentioned you needed to drive your van more often that you also mentioned adding a partition with a pocket door to separate the front from the back. I agree getting used to the van is a good idea but in doing so remember the partition will not allow you to utilize the rear view mirror so you're going to also have to get used to using only the mirrors on the doors. Just something to start thinking about and as always thanks for sharing.

It's not going to compromise the structure of the van. It's meant to be able have a window there. If it was a passenger model, it would have a window there instead of a rib. I was an ambulance and wheelchair van converter most of my life and I can assure you that van converters cut out those ribs every day of the week. We cut off thousands of roofs back in the day and put on fiberglass tops. It IS true, that the A pillar, B pillar, and C pillar (by the windshield and doors) are structural, but those window ribs are not. Their primary purpose is to stiffen the side wall sheet metal so it does not "oil can".
@charliepeach2367

Two comments. You mentioned water on the door side. 1. Campground connections for water/electric/sewer will be on the drivers side so consider that. 2. Your windows you mentioned cutting a support to get the window in, is there a way to do it without cutting a support. Those are there to maintain stability in your roofing. I really enjoy the videos and watching your progress.

Vertical beams. You can, whitout hesitation cut them off. Those beams you mentioned in the video, are just there for taking up vibrations from the metalsheet. When the window is in place, the window frame will do the same thing as the beam, take care of sheetmetal vibrations. Has nothing to do with the structural integrity at all. Good luck with your build. Iam in the planning process of my own vanbuild. You got yourself a new follower!

The one big "downside" of having an empty van. Friends and relatives will always be asking you to help move things! 😅 A few tips from someone that's already been through the long (And somewhat painful) process of building one of these out. The threaded D ring holes are great for properly securing your floor, so make sure to remove the bolts before putting the flooring down. Also, a note about your left/right bed layout. I have the same setup and a great part about it is you can sleep with your head in either direction when needed. If you're unable to level the van, you'll always be able to sleep with your head elevated, so keep that in mind when building the upper cabinets.

Thank You and Good Day Miss Elisa, Argon Oil! For my beard not your hair, it's what works especially in winter. When I snowshoe or Xcountry ski the sweat actually works towards drying my hair in camp at night. Not a problem you are having but your hair does look terrific. You have quite a few NAY sayers that aren't structural engineers. Neither am I but you can consult other builders about replacing steel structure with wood framing for your windows or weld in some new vertical supports on the sides of the windows prior to cutting. No, sorry I do not know if it's needed but something i would consider. I am my Queen's pet, she is not my cat. She made that perfectly clear the day I brought her home. I know this is late but I watch your videos when I can make time. Please know you are in my prayers. Hoka Hey
