Prague public transport carries over a billion passengers every year. This is an admirable figure in itself. But it is far from the only interesting fact or record that public transport in the metropolis holds. We have focused on other "best" in this episode of the Live Prague series.
And what will you find out? For example:
- the metro carries the most people (338 million a year), followed by trams and then buses;
- buses travel the most kilometres (84 million km a year);
- the fastest means of transport is the metro (36 km/h on average) and the slowest is the tram;
- the longest tram line (No. 10) connects Řepy and Ďáblice, the longest metro line is the B line and the longest bus line (No. 177) runs from Poliklinika Mazurská to Chodov;
- the shortest line ever is bus No. 249, which goes only 650 metres, the shortest tram, which goes about 5 kilometres, is line 13, and the A line takes you only 17 kilometres;
- the largest fleet is made up of buses (1 225 vehicles) and the smallest is the metro (730 trains);
- the shortest intervals at peak times are 117 seconds for the metro (line C), 4 minutes for trams (lines 9, 17 and 22) and 3 minutes for buses (line 125);
- the busiest tram is line 22, the highest number of passengers on the metro is on line C and the bus 177 is the bus most used.
