Making sure the script is written out correctly. Also, reading the pamphlets for the medications we’re prescribed. Sometimes even doctors and even specialist’s can make mistakes. My Cardiac doctor actually made a really bad error in prescribing a med he was trying to test me on for my chronic pericarditis and didn’t check to see that it was contraindicated if you’re taking Colchicine! Which he was already prescribing to me so it wasn’t that he didn’t know. It would cause a lethal buildup of Colchicine in my body. Thank goodness that just before taking that pill with my meal I read the pamphlet! Of course I didn’t take it and let him know. He nearly choked but never said he was sorry, unfortunately.

Sorry to hear this. Errors do happen, and not more than ever it's important to be aware and know how to ask the right questions and what to watch for - that is one of the focuses of the channel - to help you know what questions to ask and to empower the viewer to feel they can advocate for their own health and work with their healthcare team as much as possible when needed. Thank you for the comment and for your interest in a topic I am also very passionate about.

Thanks for your advice over the years. I particularly appreciated your advice about PPIs. I recently had a doctor in Australia prescribe one of these with no signs or symptoms supporting this prescription.

I'm so glad you have found the channel to be helpful. The PPI class can be helpful in some situations - they are very effective when needed, but unfortunately overprescribing and chronic prescribing of them has been an issue. Good for you for advocating for yourself. I appreciate the comment, and thank you for letting me know.

I’m sorry you had the unusual and concerning reaction/response to pain meds. Doctors should really take note of these responses and be curious as to why this occurs. You would think they’d have enough critical thinking to understand no one is built the same. It’s good to see now that we are starting to realize that our genetics play a role here. I’m very sensitive to medications and tend to have more side-effects and bad one’s to medication than the average person. Can not take Anakinra and another biologic, that most have no issues taking, etc. … One day I’d like to take this test. I’m not in a financial position to do so right now but I’m saving this for a time when I can. I’d like to have some proof and validation to this mystery body of mine. Lol! … I was wondering does it give specific insight into medication responses to say blood pressure type meds and specific classes of blood pressure medications? As I have SEVERE intolerance to them. And also to biologics? Do they let you know the types of medications you can get insight on according to your genetics before even taking the test? Just curious as to how far reaching it is and details to what types of medications?? Can you give a list? Or do they on their website? Thanks for all your help in getting this info out to the public. Very much needed. And, by the way, I enjoy the background ambience music. 😊

These are great questions. The test does give insights into multiple classes of medications. They are always updating the evidence as well as new evidence emerges. If you access the website www.inagene.com there is more detailed information. We also have an expert interview coming up on this topic, so watch for that within the next month or so. Thank you for your interest, and for the thoughtful comment. I'm sure many people can empathize with your experience as well.

I suppose it’s ironic that I do recognise that as well as us all having individual/unique responses to medicines, we also have individual responses to background sound ?!?! 😄😄😄😄. Any way, it’s not going to stop me watching your always interesting videos.
