I love the lyrical dont get it twisted but ik he's capable of delivering both i just feel this was one sided cuz the lyrics were well put together. I love this album. "Just so you remember" is hypnotizing and riveting. There's an intensity and urgency to Pusha's tone and lyrical prowess throughout the album that makes you sit up and listen. One of the most refreshing aspects of his music is that it's so deliberate; there's little ambiguity in his message and he's not afraid to articulate his own narrative in the most compelling of ways. There's a grimy, thumping undercurrent of unease and malice, and I thought that the overall production behind the vocals represented Push's story in a truly captivating way.

Kanye’s “when daddy’s not home” verse has some real profundity to it. The rate of a child’s success (college graduation, criminal record, etc) within families who stick together versus families who separate are pretty damning as to the truth behind the verse. These are measured statistics that have been around for a long time. Divorced parents garner the children in the crossfire: a 16% increase in behavioural problems; a 1.5 to 2 times increase in likelyhood of ending up in poverty, and engage in risky sexual behavior as they get older; have an 8% lower probability of completing high school, a 12% lower probability of college attendance, and an 11% lower probability of college completion. Children living in intact, nuclear families are about *half* as likely than children in step, blended, or one-parent families to have a mental disorder or need psychological help…

This album changed so much when I heard Pusha say that Pharell said he made him keep on The Joker movie… to remain in an intimate character for the album. First listen was a lil disappointing? 4 weeks of listening? It’s almost sitting on the list of album of the year.

It's Almost Dry is a good album, especially because of the production with Pharrell & Kanye. I hope Cal will try to do that with Kanye or Pharrell too.

As a producer I got used to always look for new drum samples and everything, but seeing what Pharell can do with what is essentially a very small selection of samples yet still sound fresh and interesting really inspired me. Pusha T's consistency far outweighs any miss on this record for me. His beat selection, his word play and confidence is so infectious that I will continue looking forward to any material he releases. This man don't miss.

How can Kanye not be mixed properly…. how did that get approved?
@thomasnelson5758
2 жыл бұрын
@Perverted Alchemist Well, he always handles the sonics in terms of production (i.e. the soundscapes), but he doesn't do the mixing or mastering, so blame then goes to whoever does that (usually Mike Dean for mixing and Vlado Meller for mastering). The levels in most songs are always blown out and the loudness wars never really went away. Kanye's vocals are too hot in the mix on Dreamin of the Past
