You might think of doing one of these for MIDI in to Reason Rack as a VST inside a DAW. Grear vid. Thanks!

Thanks a million for this! So frustrated that my Instacomposer 2 wouldn't work with Reason and there are absolutely 0 helpful videos to be found on KZitem. Except for this one! Installed the Poohbear codecs and everything is working as intendended. Lovely! Gonna see if something similar also works for Midigrid, would be extra nice.

Heck yeah, it worked for MidiGrid as well! Good stuff.

Unfortunately latency compensation does not seem to have much of an effect with the Midigrid plugin, but otherwise it's so nice not to have to open Ableton Live for it and export the midi file and then import it back in Reason. That took much of the ease of use out of it, lol.

Very good video. The only thing I was struggling for roughly 2 hrs was to assign the separate midi channels to the instruments, instead of to the channels blocks - which simply doesn’t work. Was close to give up, but now it works perfectly, even with Scaler and others.

Thank you!!! Very informative! Love your channel! So comparing this to Blue Cat's Patchwork Plugin,,What would you consider this to be different? :)

I remember demo'ing patchworks along time ago, I think Elements is more flexible however with what we are looking to achieve here if you have Patchworks use Patchworks, I use Voltage Modular a lot to route my midi etc. One BIG thing is, Elements is only $2 and for that it's well worth it, it also comes with a standalone version as well.

Hi PoohBear, thanks I will try this soon. Do you have any experience of capturing the ARP MIDI data from VPS Avenger by any chance? VPS Avenger actively lets you export the drum patterns but with reason you by default you only get to record the keyed notes of the Avenger ARP......I have seen another video on KZitem where somebody was able to get the ARP MIDI very easily in another DAW just by adding a MIDI track and recording. It's a pity you can't route MIDI in reason any way you want with Reason itself.

I have already done that using Elements, just route it like I showed, I'll do a video showing it as I want to show a simple tip that will help using Elements and midi overall.

Very informative video. I have a question (not strictly related to this soft ware) Is there an easy way to change Reason midi channels in Widows? As my Nektar P1 keeps assigning to midi in on 2 or 4. I have seen ways to edit these in the reg edit, but is there any easier way to reset the midi to and from controllers in Reason 12? Any guidance would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Midi-OX is something I have used in the pass for rerouting midi, might help however are you saying that in Reason you are seeing it change the port under control surface? My P1 control surface settings are Instrument port MIDIIN2 Rewire MIDIIN4 Out port MIDIOUT2

PoohBear's Reason Channel Thank you, yes if unplug the USB (2.4) cable from my pc and replug it back, in on checking the preferences - control surfaces the midi port changes from its previous midi port 2 to midi port 4. The only way I have been using to deal with this, is to leave the P1 permanently plugged in. Thanks for your support, I will give Mid-Ox a try.

wow, I have not seen that before, I take you have the latest firmware installed on the P1 etc.

Very informative video. Steps were really easy to follow. However, it was a bit confusing on downloading kushview as there’s subscription and one time download. I went for one time download. Secondly, plugins aren’t showing when I open kushview in reason. I looked around the system and saw plugins manager and scanning for new ones but it’s not possible in the plugin version. I’ve just used the desktop one to search and it’s finding them.

In my video description I do state about the Kushview download as it is confusing. Yes, You have to scan for new plugins in the standalone version now however once scanned they appear in the VST version..

hey I'm having that same problem where the kushview vst isn't finding the plugin either. How did you solve this? I too downloaded the one time version. You mention you were able to scan them via the "desktop one". What exactly do you mean? Thanks!

@@Electric_Crystals Kushview Elements installs as a standalone and VST versions, run the standalone outside of the DAW and you get options to setup your folders etc to scan for. default install on windows is "C:\Program Files\Kushview\Element\Element.exe"

@PoohBear's Voltage Modular perfect! It works! But I'm having a latency problem.. I did the -521 but it's still there.. do you have this problem too? If so did you solve it?

I am new in Reason and I don't know how to save that stuff you did at the end of the video. You pulled a saved work but you did not show how to save those settings. Anyway, thank you for this very good video. I didn't know you could that with Reason.

Anything you do inside of Reason like all those changes are saved within the project. With regards to the patch I pulled up, if you look at the front of the Reason VST interface, just below the plugin name you have the normal Reason Load, Save and Browse buttons you can use them to load\save fxb files (or like in the video drag and drop)..
