A hand-made tool is more interesting than a factory one, since it is made by the hands of a master and will not be repeated. These ticks were made by a master many years ago. But after lying in the ground for more than a dozen or even hundreds of years, they came to this unsuitable state. It is a pity to throw it away, it is impossible to use it. I will try to restore them, and you will see what happened. The pincers were very rusty and the metal began to peel off in some places. For starters, I've been using the citric acid will remove the loose rust. It takes a day. Then I wash it well in clean water. I need to separate them. For this, I cut off an iron rivet. Then I need to delete it, but this is not easy to do. I heated the pliers with a gas burner almost to red and knocked out the rivet with strong blows. I wanted to save it so I could reuse it, but it's no longer usable. Since the cutting edge had rotted, the handles were closer together, so I heated them and bent them slightly to the other side. Adjusted and sharpened the cutting edges of the tongs. Then on a grinding machine, I sharpened both halves of the tongs. The metal is very rusty, I will not remove a large layer, in many places there will be cavities, but the ticks will look old and forged. I used the drill and nozzle to clean the tongs. I started polishing with a rough circle using a grinder. Then the circles with a finer grain have already been thoroughly polished. Adjusted and sharpened the cutting edges of the tongs. I turned a rivet out of a bar on a lathe. By heating each side, I uncoated it. Now the halves are connected again. Color ran, I did not clean up, when making, I think, the ticks were this color. Now the tool is completely ready and you can use it again, as in the old days.
