Richard’s stories about people approaching him are like something out of a satirical novel. I believe him. He’s a man of integrity as, from all indications, he hasn’t bowed. In my opinion he is the greatest card sharp/mechanic that we will ever see. It makes me wish I could see footage of the legendary Dad Stevens. I would assume some of his work utilizes riffle stacking, and it makes me wonder where he ranks in this regard “skill wise” (if it could be measured). Darwin Ortiz, from what I have seen, is the greatest exponent of riffle stacking that I’m aware of. The double duke run-up he demonstrates in Card Cheating is incredible. I stumbled across an interesting application in Marlo’s Riffle Shuffle Systems, and have tried my hand at it. It’s great.

Except his stories are 100% true and if you watch his documentaries/do your research you can confirm it yourself. Eg, him driving a motorcycle blind and getting pulled over, has documentation and pictures showing it really did happen. Do you really think that if he was dealing for a mafia game he wouldn't be able to keep his cool and not act as boisterous? By your same logic that means he can't sit still long enough for his appearances in hollywood movies where he plays a dealer. @@farout166

He sands, bends, and files his cards to give them all a unique feel. That as a blind man with an extra heightened sense of touch only he notices. Still absolutely amazing to watch. You can see an example of this by how he knew that card was a queen before being told 3:59. He could feel what every card in that deck was, faster then you could see it. Watch Penn's Magic Support, he knows Richard Turner personally and explains how he preps his decks. kzitem.info/news/bejne/04F8s5VjgHphlYY

@@matrixstrobe1176 he can feel what every card is. It's basically like handing you the cards face up. Richard sees with his hands, he's says so himself. If you handed him a fresh deck out of your pocket, he'd be screwed. Richard's decks take days of preparation before he can use them.

Leatherman what if the pile Johnny gives him doesn’t have any aces?
@Leatherman154
4 жыл бұрын
@@flyingchimp12 then Johnny isn't getting any aces... He makes a superior hand, he made no claims about what cards would be in that hand, for good reason. He never says "I'm gonna give you 5 aces" he asks you to pick a position on the table and says "watch your hand will win" Johnny could have won with a pair of 2's and the trick still has the same effect. Lots of magicians will roll with things when lucky coincidence strikes, like Johnny handing him a stack of cards containing the 1 eyed jack. Then they reveal that 'wow' factor card last, it's all about presentation.
@jmc2830

i'm trying to understand this, i can't think of a way this is done without a tampered deck. shaved down edges for important cards or light adhesive on the edges or maybe different scents? because each card should feel exactly the same, i mean unless they are engraved or embossed this would be impossible right?
@Pastaphemus
10 ай бұрын
Richard Turner can feel the difference of weight in the amount of ink used on the different cards- you could give him a regular deck of cards with one missing, and just by holding it he could tell you that the deck was missing a card by that small difference in weight alone, and which one it is. He's studied under the best magicians and practiced for hours a day for over 40 years. His fingers and sense of touch really are just that good
