This is brilliant..Shattered is the best version i've heard...The rehearsal was so much better than the actual performance..Is that why we still luv them...?...This upload is priceless ...Many thanks..

They combine that grimey NYC gutter rat vibe with that little kid jumping on his bed with a tennis racket guitar energy. This is starting to gain on Exile as my favorite Stones album. Just puts me in a great mood, like the first day of spring or The Blues Brothers movie. Just hits that same spot.

@Peter DeSouza He still does. : ) Love songs like Shattered from this era of the Stones when they decided to get back to 'Raw.' They got the down side of NYC down pat. I love the way they start off their rehearsals so discombobulated and tie it up so well at the final, though still rough around the edges.

This is a mess! If the Stones had played this way on any of the post Steel Wheels tours, many of the critics and fans would have screamed. The truth is that The Stones have been very consistent as live band since the 1989 tour. Yes, they got older, but Mick Jagger sang so wonderfully on "The Bigger Bang" tour. And the rest of the band were great too. Nobody does it like Charlie Watts.

@@petermills542 I talked to a gent who saw the Stones at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia in June 1978. He said they were awful....and that Mick’s voice was trashed. Other gigs on the tour seemed to have been better. Jagger vetoed the Stones SNL performance for the boxed DVD set. Instead, he opted for his duet with Peter Tosh televised several months later when his voice was in good condition. The same guy who saw them at JFK, saw them three years later in Philadelphia for the ‘81 tour....he said they were fantastic at that show.

@@petermills542 When SNL was putting together a box set years ago, Jagger himself wouldn’t allow the Stones’ performance to be included. Instead, Jagger opted for the duet he did with Peter Tosh several months later….a performance where Jagger’s voice was in good condition.

did anyone else notice that Keith forced Mick to take his arm off Ronnie's shoulder haha...it's aroung 9:38 mark... when Mick was leaning onto Ronnie's shoulder and Keith was not ok with it for whatever reason! Mick of course did (you don't mess with Keef) but then he came towards Keith and pointed his hand at him like, come here fella.... priceless... sorta One Hit to the body early interaction haha

Why does Mick try to hang with 2 guitar legends like Keef & Ronnie by strapping on a guitar & looking like a fool? And for all you who think this aint Steel Wheels etc., your right, this is better, this is how they should sound live.

Rob R. it could easily be argued that Mick Jagger ' looks like a fool' in many ways hahaa ! but he's fine on rhythm guitar, Fingerprint File & many others since, & playing live on Some Girls stuff etc was the mood of the BAND ! & I love way he bosses Ronnie about .... they make fantastic music together somehow....

@MarkBarna1 Indeed,ok this is a rehearsal, and only for archaeological purposes, but this is as exciting as watching paint dry.I'd rather watch Status Quo doin' their boogie woogie routine . This looks like a band struck by boredom and just going through the motions, because the actual later performance wasn't much better. They knew it themselves "Sucking In The Seventies".
