I love my 454 super red hawk. I have the 7.5 in. barreled version. I bought mine about 3-4 years ago, its definetly not for the recoil sensitive, but I don't have that problem. I could shoot this gun all day, if my pocket book would allow it. Great channel, keep up the good work.

Nice presentation Tom, I believe Ruger has a custom their own Stainless Steel. The Alaskan can shoot 45 LC, which makes the Alaskan a highly versatile firearm. Typically high entry price point firearms of the Alaskan quality at least keep pace with inflation at about 4% per annum.

I own the Alaskan in .480, and an Alaskan in .44M, I also have a .454 Super Red Hawk 7.5 in target gray. I prefer the .44M for lower 48, and if you are in fact in Alaska and need to shoot a large charging grizzly, the .480 is what I would carry. 6 shot 480. I do love the . 454, but the recoil is not for everybody. The Super Red Hawk in .454 is a fantastic gun if you can manage the recoil and the bullet cost.

This specific model is ideal for bear country, but I wouldn't carry it as an everyday CCW firearm: it's recoil and muzzle flash--especially at night or in a darkened room--wouldn't allow for a quick, well-aimed double tap string. Anyone with a CCW permit should test their normal carry ammunition at night or in a darkened indoor shooting range to see just how much muzzle flash they'll have to deal with if they ever have a life-and-death situation at night or in a dark room.

Picked up my 44 magnum version couple days ago. Had an option to get the 454 online...which i really wanted. But something told me that i can get the power of 454 by loading +p+ 340 grain Buffalo Bore bullets in it when i need it, but the rest of time enjoying shooting the 44's. Pretty happy with this decision :-)

***** 1. power (energy) is not defined by diameter. 2. +p+ Buffalo Bore 340 gr has even more energy than some low end 454's. Study the tabs. 3. According to all this, idiot is you. 😊

I really liked my Ruger Alaskan in 44 Magnum. The only thing that would make it better is if they: 1) Included night sights 2) Chamfered the charge holes 3) Extended the shroud and barrel another 1.5" for a four inch barrel. A 3" option would be nice.

My favorite revolver is the S&W model 19 .357 with a 2.5 inch barrel. I replaced the original grips with Hogue grips which fit my hand better. I don't carry but I could if I wanted to with this weapon; it's small, light and has a sweet trigger in DA. I'd like to try the .454 but I'd have to work out for a year to handle the recoil. Nice vid and well done.

This is so awesome, I had a Ruger Blackhawk single action also in brushed stainless,, I kick myself for selling it! But ya know what I will be buying another stainless Ruger. The quality IMO is unmatched. Ruger builds them like tanks! and the fit and finish is excellent. Another little "hand cannon" to check out is the Ruger LCR .357 Magnum.. That was a great day at the range. It's nothing pretty but still an awesome little package. Very stout being that it's such a small gun for 357 Mag...

hey Tom. I just purchased the 8 shot Ruger .357 Redhawk. Love the way It looks, feels and shoots. Recoil using Federal 158gr. .357 was mild, and .38 +P was almost unnoticeable. I've noticed quite a few gun enthusiasts show very little to no interest on the new Ruger. I did remove the wood grips and noticed the number 48 engraved on the frame, possibly the production number. Love Ruger in general, and hope it will increase in value as well. I'm also surprised your .454 is a 6 shot, thought those were 5 shot due to the size of the round. I also saw your video on the Glock 20. I have it as well and love it. Thanks for the videos/info.
