Warwickshire Hunt - Tysoe Manor - Saturday 13th January 2024

Sabs intervene to save a fox that had been hunted to exhaustion in a prolonged chase.
Brett Easter trips over his own feet and provides us with some handy footage of just how easy and quickly he is willing to lie.
The Warwickshire Hunt met at Jonathan and Clementine Mark’s Tysoe Manor and headed inland after leaving the meet. The hounds went off in cry near Kirby Farm in what was the start of a prolonged chase. Our vehicle sabs saw the huntsman and various other members of the hunt galloping down the road from Oxhill to Whatcote looking for the hounds who had gone off by themselves. They crossed the road at Whatcote heading up Idlicote Hill and onto Marcus Dill’s land. You may recognise the name as Dill is the landowner whose land the hunt killed a fox on back at the start of the season.
With convicted huntsman Goffe back with the hounds he hunted them down hill and onto Thomas and Elizabeth Newbery’s land. This is where our first group of foot sabs witnessed the fox being chased by the hounds and where we made our first attempt to stop the hounds. It was also at this location that Warwickshire Hunt steward Brett Easter tripped over his own feet, did an over dramatic gambole and instantly cried assault at the sab he was following. Brett would later go on to make other false allegations such as claiming he would be going to the police because our vehicle didn’t have enough seats for the amount of sabs we had out. This is all pretty standard stuff from Easter and other members of the Warwickshire Hunt who make several such allegations every hunt meet as their desperation to get rid of us grows each week. However, it is very handy from our point of view to have two examples of this behavior on camera.
The hounds were never out of cry for long and soon crossed the road near Little Saint Dennis. Goffe then took them over the B4035 where the hounds re-picked up the scent on Robert Hutchings's land near Barcheston. Our second foot team picked up the hounds as they burst out of a hedge and ran across the road in front of an oncoming vehicle which was forced to stop and wait for them (another fine example of that secret protocol in action). Sabs headed inland and soon saw the fox slowly making its way across a field, so exhausted by now that it could no longer run. With sabs now inbetween the fox and hounds they were able to stop the hounds and move them away from the fox.
With this Goffe gathered the hounds and took them back across the road and towards the meet where they packed up.
