Warwickshire Hunt - Ells Farm - Wednesday 20th December 2023
After meeting at Brian and Frances Pile’s Ells Farm huntsman Goffe took the hounds to hunt right next to the busy B4035 and inconvenienced normal road users in the process. From there it was over to William David Lovesey’s Lower Tadmarton Farm. It was here that two foxes paired up for the mating season were hunted. Both ran in the same direction past our vehicle sab and towards the main road with one turning back and over a badger sett at the farm. This fox was seen by the foot sab who also witnessed the hounds running over the same badger sett. The hounds lost the scent near the sett and convicted huntsman Goffe had to gather the hounds and crossed the busy B4035 to Lower Tadmarton and onto the Broughton Castle Estate owned by Lord Saye and Sele Nathaniel Thomas Allen Fiennes.
After spending the next hour on Fiennes’s land hunting the valley between Sandfine Wood and Shutford Bridge the hunt crossed over to hunt Padsdon Bottom and Claydonhill Covert. This is a wood owned by the Warwickshire Hunt. However between the vehicle sab and foot sab knowing where Goffe has found foxes before at both of these locations and positioned themselves accordingly Goffe gave up and packed up at nearby Tythe Farm
