I never have enjoyed watching a left hand mill in action but you're the exception. Awesome sawing. Btw, very well done on the American Flag, thank you for being a patriot!

That's interesting. I grew up around a left handed mill and it's strange for me to watch righthand. 👍

Different resonance and vibrational footprint. I see that "Old School" is still alive and kicking.

Something I’d like to add! The B pattern is different in that it only holds 48 teeth. Make sure to share the video:)

Ya, a question for you. Why do you have to de-bark the logs? you just cut the logs anyway.
@woodnewf3847

Bark is full of dirt, stones and other grit that will dull a saw blade. Real sawmills debark their logs.

I want to know how you keep all the saw dust and bark from clogging up your machine?
@Helmsburgsawmill
2 ай бұрын
Yes I need to do an updated video on our waste systems! But for now, we have a barn sweep that runs under the deck barker that sweeps all of that bark out. And we have blower boxes underneath the head saw and edgers, that suck all of the dust out of the building…. Or at least 90% of it

You are sawing a lot of 6/4. Is that to meet demand or to take advantage of the quality of logs that you have?
@Helmsburgsawmill

Our lumber buyer has told us to just keep on sawing 6/4 Red oak! And the demand is probably about to take off. It would be nice to do poplar soon!

Does the customer receive some kind of discount if you leave wane on the lumber?
@Helmsburgsawmill
3 ай бұрын
No. They like a little wane. All of that lumber is getting milled down

@@Helmsburgsawmill ok so if i was purchasing some of this lumber to do a furniture project i would pay for the wane and then have to purchase a little more lumber to fill my plan requirements? Is this a correct assumption on my part?
@Helmsburgsawmill
3 ай бұрын
No. These boards are going to a massive finished lumber producer. I make the wane, because it’s within our tolerance. Our in house boards and lumber don’t have that wane

How about a graphic of the weight of each log before sawing and a graphic on how many board feet acquired from each log.
