You can also scale the standing rollout by facing a wall so that you hit it when you roll out as far as you are able for reps. . As you get stronger, take a step back. Keep stepping back until you are able to get a full extension . Glad you shared this. The ab wheel is underrated. It makes your entire upper body stronger.

I find that with this movement it isn't so much the progression you use because there are dozens of them that can work. It's more about the degree of priority you are willing to give it. People normally put it later in the workout, and if you are going to do it that way you should plan on it progressing very slow. The more aggressive progression schemes you find online are not going to work as well, or at all. The way I got to where I could do it was with a dynamic double progression. I used a wall to standardize the distance, and touched the ab wheel to the wall to get the reps. I worked between 6, and 12 reps. Every time I got 12 reps clean, I would go out further on the hard day, starting back at 6 reps. On my easier day I would do 12 from my previous distance to maintain that work capacity. I would then do a variation where I started on my toes, where they would be in the bottom position, and used my hips more. That method works no matter where it ends up in the workout. I'm actually doing it again now that I am 10 pounds heavier, and haven't done the exercise in a while. It's going smooth, and predictable down to the exact rep. Your way will work too, I'm not saying it won't, but I think mine is gonna be easier for most people. So I thought I'd share it.

It's definitely a fun exercise but another good one would be in a Nordic curl setup on the floor because you can offset a lot of the load of the anterior chain by putting some of the load on the hamstrings

Years back I got myself an ab wheel roller with springs in it that get tighter as you roll out so the end of the motion gives the greatest assistance. Very useful for starting out, though what isn't is I have no idea where I bought it from!

You can set up a ramp with a piece of wood from Home Depot and roll up an incline. Then just gradually lower the incline as you get stronger.
