I have always wanted my Master's. I have always found an interest in psychology courses. When I chose my major for my B.A. I initially wanted psychology but I was horrible at math. Anyway, psychology still interests me as well as having my master's. Is it far fetched for me to go from not just a B.A. in communication to a master's in Psychology? Basically, am I living in a dream world. Lol.

Hi Chloe. You can definitely still get into a psychology program in psychology. Many programs require that you have 15-18 hours of school psychology prereqs. Are you wanting to be a psychologist or school psychologist? Or did you want to be a therapist?

Hi. New sub here. I am interested in going back to school for School Psychology. How hard was it to get into the program?
@Joelschoolpsy

Hi Hanna. Thank you for watching and subscribing. I appreciate it. Some programs are harder to get accepted to than others however, I don't think it is very hard if you already have a background in psychology, education or a related field. Some programs require that you have psychology prerequisites but, not all. There is a huge need for school psychologist so I think a lot of programs will accept students from various backgrounds related to psychology. GPA, letters of rec, work experience, educational background, volunteer experience, work with children/students, is taken into consideration when applying. What is your educational background? If you don't have a background in psychology already then you can definitely take some prerequisites in psychology to strengthen your chances. But, some programs don't require these prereqs.

How long is a typical dissertation?
@Joelschoolpsy
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kayla. Good question. Dissertation can take years and it really depends on a number of factors; your topic, methods, available research, etc. Some may finish in a year and for some it takes a lot longer. I'm hoping mine takes only about a year. Please let me know what other questions you may have.

@@kaylamcvay2615 Hi Kayla. Your dissertation will be finished prior to graduating. It'll likely be the last thing you do in your program. Some people in my program are going to do dissertation before internship. I am doing mine during internship and ill finish after internship. It'll be the last thing I finish up in my program. Please let me know what other questions you may have.
