Thanks for sharing Alan. We just got home from the Helena Gem & Mineral Show earlier today. Good show, then off to the hills to sample a few local areas down there. Love mining metals and gems! Gonna be doing a lot this season. Im in Great Falls, let me know if you ever want to meet up to dig.

Thanks for sharing... I hoping that this year I'll be able to travel so I can head south and hit a few rivers to fine some gem stones... We don't have much of them here in S/e Wisconsin for some reason. No Gem stones no gold not much even when you go out metal detecting around here all you seem to find is peoples trash... BUT what we do have is some of the prettiest scenery you could ever ask for... Lots of pines and birds... Be blessed... BBE..

I sure hope you can get out and do some prospecting this year I'm going nuts just waiting for the snow to melt. I know what you mean it's the same metal detecting here just trash and coins. Thanks for watching.

Alan Robertson ... We just got hit with 4 inch of ice and snow today... It's wet and very heavy... We normally don't get this kind of snow this time of year... I've been housebound for the past 4 years so I'm praying that this year I can get out.... But I know that God works all things out for my good and in HIS time I will be able to get back on my Can Am Spyder and hit the road again....

Looks like a fun trip. Got some nice looking sapphires and even a little gold to go with them. Life is good.😄 do you get many that are worth cutting?

Yes it was a fun trip we went down there to see how much snow was still there to see how long before we can get to the claim it's going to be awhile. We have five sapphires to take to the cutter thanks for watching.

Are you by/from the Virginia City/Ruby area Scotch? I'd like to meet anybody that mines there, I've been interested in that area for a while. Great Falls here.

It just occurred to me that, when I go agate hunting, I walk toward the sun, to illuminate the waxy and translucent stones. I'm going to bring a flashlight with me when i go there. If someone were doing this frequently, they might want to build a light box, similar to one you'd use for tracing.

You are right and it was the largest one we found at 3.5 ct since it does not have much color to it I think we will have it heat treated and see what happens and not have it cut. Thanks for watching.

How do you test what you have? Or know what you have?

It takes practice for sure. You are looking for them to be clear with out a bunch of cracks in them.
