I’m also taking it easy on prompts and reading events generally! Beautiful copy of Lolly Willows - I had that on my radar a few years ago and you’ve reminded me of it. I just bought the kindle version for 37p! ❤

@@spreadbookjoy hello Jack, I’ve been reading more on my Kindle in the last year. It’s so convenient and of course, less money. But sometimes you want to own a book in print. I hope this will be a keeper. Aloha friend.

Aloha, friend! Nice line-up of September reads! I still need to finalize my September TBR and get my video out. Lately, I have spent lots of time outdoors and being active due to the cooler weather. Anyway, great video and enjoy your September TBR!!

@@BeyondBooks-wt5il thank you, Renee, it’s very warm here forHawai’i, it hit 92°, which is as hot as it gets. I’m glad you’re getting out. I went to the beach on Labor Day and it was great. I’m taking it slow this September. I’m still finishing up one of Maya Angelou‘s books and started on one of the small books. I’m going to be outdoors for a while tomorrow. I don’t have a car so I go when I can. Aloha friend PS say hello to Reina the queen for me.

You always have such eclectic reading lists! Isabella Leitner's memoirs are some of the most haunting, unforgettable books I've ever read. The combined volume, Isabella: From Auschwitz to Freedom, includes some new pieces, but also omits or changes some of the most powerful lines from the originals. In the combined volume, she notes her younger sister finally gave permission to use her real name, Regina, in print. (All of the surviving siblings have video interviews with the USC Shoah Foundation Visual History Archive, and Regina definitely had the most difficulty dealing with her trauma after the war.) She also had a children's version, The Big Lie: A True Story, which is much more graphic in places than the adult books, and includes some events not mentioned in them.

Quite a selection of books. "Ten Little Indians", the first name change before that upset people so we now have "Then there were None". I am just waiting for the "Nones" to complain. Enjoy your reading and stay well.

@@ba-gg6jo Hi ba, to her credit, Agatha Christie Was willing to change the titles. I wonder how I will feel about it as a play. Will it be a scary? The first time I read it I thought it was very spooky. And the second time I read it I still couldn’t remember who the culprit was because the aura of the story scared me so much😀. aloha friend and stay well

Love Ruth Rendell! I was so disappointed with Daughter of Time. It is beautifully written but the mystery part is not very good. I think it appeals more to "literary" readers than "genre" readers. Enjoy your September!!

Hi Marilyn Maya 🤗. The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey is on my unread shelf. You've made me curious about Ruth Rendel, so I'm looking up your recommendation for From Doon With Death by Ruth Rendel, right now. 👍🏽. I could really benefit from reading How to Relax. 😅. Saludos, Mariandrea

@@books_and_bocadillos Gracias amiga, I really enjoyed the first of Ruth Rendel series that introduced chief inspector, Reginald, Wexford, and detective Burden. In this first book, they aren’t flushed out as much, but the mystery itself was fantastic. Bendiciiones

I’m also a fan of Josephine Tey. I think I have all of her books which are many years old now. Daughter of Time unfortunately has not changed history but it’s a damn good book. Perry Mason got too formulaic for me after a few reads.

@@SluggishReader Hi Freddie, I found that they made a whole bunch of movies out of that book. So maybe I can figure it out. I usually don’t like dense books if they’re just dense to make a point. But this one highlights Japanese culture, which I know a little about having lived there for three years so maybe, I’ll be able to discuss it intelligently. Sending aloha your way.
