In this video, we are looking at the Shadow Window. It can be a little intimidating, but we are going to break it down so you can start using it in your workflow.
Don't use them often but it's good to understand how to use them, the relationship with lighting in Sketchup and how Geo location affects the shadow settings automatically (I hadn't realised that for some reason). Thanks Aaron.

Never really use them but for as mentioned, presentations. A few good tidbits however. If I come away with something….then worth the time. Thanks Aaron.

Great tool for measuring height of radio towers. Measure shadow length note Geo-location with gps and utc time draw tower adjust height to give measured shadow length. Vola tower height known.

One solution for manipulating where the sun shines from is the "Solar North" extension available for free in the extension warehouse. If I remember correctly, it used to be a standard tool back in the At Last days, and although it might be sort of cheating, it does help when you just want to quickly change the look of a scene. (It allows you to change solar north ... even if you are geo located).

Is there a way to save the Time and Date settings? The solstices and equinoxes might be good presets for the Shadow Settings panel. I enjoy your instruction videos and occasionally send a screen shot of you and your tee to a friend, who also gets a kick out of them.

You might also mention how to get colour rendering that matches consistently the colour of your material swatch....by adjusting the light / dark balance.. as in schematic drawings where the material colour represents a function.. eg landuse and we don't what the light source or shadows changing that colour.

Great tips! Can you do a video on how to add an artificial light source in an interior design model?

I second the request for an artificial light source tool ... maybe something for the next version.

Alas, SketchUp has only two light sources... either the sun or the camera. To generate any additional lights you will need to use a renderer.
