I was there! Holy shit never saw such a huge crowd in my life. '85 was wild. Finished high school in the state of emergency. People were getting shot every week and there were more deaths and more funerals and riots in the townships every week. I went on foot via Putco bus to Soweto a few times in '85. On one occasion we had to dodge multiple mobs of comrades that were moving thru areas where we were by hiding in people's houses till they passed. Crazy times thinking back. The comrades used to gather in mobs of 1000+ people and toyi-toyi. Then they would all jump in unison and the thud traveling thru the ground would call the cops from far and draw them in. Then they would run or fight with stones and petrol bombs, sometimes using dustbin lids as shields. Those days if a cop said stop and you ran, he was entitled to open fire on you and kill you for nothing. Saw it happen with my own eyes.

EVoid doesn't have a spotify or sound cloud. The only song I can find is shadows. Off of some movie sound track. Need to get on it. Aside from that theses guys are a great band. I'm a Mexican gen z kid who lives in Las Vegas. Literally the last person you'd expect to be listening to this, but here I am rocking out to this song. Also the base line in taximan is fire, love it. If I had the money I'd go to their next concert. Even if I have to fly to SA. Even if I get mugged on the way to the concert. Hi Angela, Yes it was a charity concert to raise money and awareness of starvation in Southern Africa and organised by Operation Hunger. It really was a first as 24 bands across the racial and style spectrum of SA music contributed!
