IF I had in any real interest/need in owning an ATV of any brand it would have to have doors, windows, and windshield wiper(s). Standard headlights and taillights would be fine. The more tech stuff the manufacturers cram into ATVs (or 4X4 pickups and SUVs for that matter) the more stuff there is to break...But then that DOES mean more money passing from buyers back to dealerships and manufacturers when parts and labor are factored in, unless I'm badly mistaken. I'm sure that any ATV I picked out for my purposes would be used for maybe twenty or thirty hours a year and reside in our garage the rest of the time. Of course, I would also need to purchase a trailer to tow my imaginary ATV to and from any place I might need it. Oh, and let us not forget that I would also need a pickup or SUV capable of towing the trailer-ATV combination to get them from here to there and back while remaining useable as a daily driver. As it happens, The Lovely Bride and I own one full size 4X4 RAM that is fully capable of towing such a load and an '05 "beater" Colorado 4X4 that MIGHT BE. I just can't see trying to convince myself and/or The Lovely Bride that spending more than we paid for our three-bedroom house and the double lot it sits on would be a good plan since the ATV and its trailer would get so little use during any given year.

I purchased 09 RZR LE new for 10k, lol. Hard to believe loaded rangers are 50k plus now. Just no way they are worth the asking price. Profit margin has to be staggering on them. I have a 21 honda Pioneer 1000-5 that was 17k and I thought that price was a bit ridiculous. I get the full cab and HVAC. But 50k is just nuts. SxS are built pretty cheaply. Plastic bushings and thin metal everywhere. Hearing that belt is supposed to last the life of the vehicle and in the same breath hearing it lasts twice as long as a rubber belt floored me a little. I've had 3 different Polaris SxSs with a CVT and rubber belts. Everyone I know does good to get 2k miles out of belt. We always carried a spare. So am I to assume this 50k+ ranger has a life expectance of around 4-5k miles? lol

I was a Finance manager 4 score and 3 eons ago when the concept of side by sides were just being introduced to the market. Seeing that fully loaded model with heated seats, drive modes, full HVAC- it is just mind blowing. And I think comparing the MSRP of the fully loaded side by side with what is essentially an almost fully loaded mid size truck is a huge wake up slap to potential consumers shopping in either category. I really think this was a timely and valid comparison of perspective and as with everything Alex has done in front of the camera for TFL so far, it was done expertly!
