After I quit WoW like 2 years ago, I was looking for a new MMO to call home. I checked out lotro and at first i didnt like it. After that I checked out GW2,teso, and even some smaller mmo but nothing really catched me. So I recently gave lotro another got, but this time with a diffrent mindset. I didnt want to rush and just enjoy the music and story. And oh boy, it wa the right way to play it. The community is just so welcoming and nice, the music is so great and the story is just so perfect. Im so glad I gave the game another go

Hey! Tolkien & LOTRO Content creator here. As someone who also has played since start of LOTRO. I loved this Review! It is so nice to see a positive Review on the Game that is fair and points out goods and bads. But LOTRO is pretty much an amazing MMO in all regards like you said in video! Anyway, Well done video! Thought I say hi! My Kinship is on Server crickhollow if you ever want to play! :D Cheers! Keep it up! BARUK KHAZAD! P.S. I also play league of legends just not on my tolkien channel here on youtube :P. Sounds like we enjoyed the same games in 2000s! :D

So many good memories, idk if I can choose just one!! But highlights for me include being welcome by the community and finding a loving and fun kinship, crying during the farewell to the Fellowship in Rivendell, meeting Tom Bombadil, and the first time I saw The Shire. I was awestruck. Still am! Thank you for this video. It’s emotional, informative, and well edited! I’m sure Tolkien would be proud.

I joined LOTRO as an F2P player in late 2017, transferred to Landroval and joined the Knights of the White Lady kinship in 2018, then took a LONG break and came back to the game late last year - and even though I had only spent less than a year playing before, it really felt like coming home. On the whole the community is welcoming and helpful, both within my kinship and in random interactions across the landscape. Every region feels lovingly crafted, and I think that attention is why I find myself returning to places where there's nothing left for me to do, just to see the sights and listen to the music. I'm level 116 and I know I still have a long way to go, and I'm looking forward to the rest of my *first* playthrough of LOTRO.

LoTRO isn't some random MMO. It is a love letter to all fans/gamers of middle earth and Tolkien's books. The ppl who created this MMO never wanted to strictly follow the movies, nor they had any intentions to. The game itself is very well made and truly represent the middle earth (some dingleberries will say look at Umbar), and even then the game is still the same, same lore, same environtment, same Tolkien's vibe. LoTRO is the only MMO dedicated to Tolkien's work. It's truly Lord of The Rings game. Also LoTRO has nothing to prove in the MMO industry. It's been here for 17 years. 17 years of content, it's massive, it's huge, and will take you long time, very, very long time to reach end-game if you decide to play the game the proper way. I've been off and on for 17 years too. My main MMO is FFXIV, and GW2, but I always find time for my hiden gaming love and that is LoTRO. Because of this legendary server I totally skipped the launch of Janthir Wilds expansion of GW2, but I feel good, because LoTRO is also home for me. The game has very generous F2P model and you can earn the premium currency just by playing the game, and then you can buy quite a lot of stuff from the store without paying a dime. Should you play LoTRO in 2024? yea, you can try in 2025, or 2026, it will be still middle earth for you, and this hidden gem that you haven't discovered yet.

I also played FFXIV for a while as a long time MMO vet. After about 2000 hours I called it quits because I found the endgame to be incredibly weak, and the patch cycles were (and continue to be) few in number and content. Great game and I hope Dawntrail redeems it at some point, but so far it's not looking good.

@@ViveLeQuebecLibreTabarnak FFXIV literally has the best end game of any MMO. It has for causal and for try hards trials and raids. And everyone can do them, at any given time (for casuals that is). For the first time I am seeing someone calling FFXIV endgame "weak". It blows my mind, even.

@@nexeus7302 savage raid tiers and ultimates are the only endgame fights and honestly the engagement is not that high in most NA data centers. ~10% of players complete savage tiers on release ~1% complete ultimates No exploration zone since SHB. (4 years) No change to the formulaic and boring treasure maps in years. No new Unreal fight in like a year. No changes to formulaic and boring dungeons/trials/NR and AR just the same reskinned layouts and mechanics for years and years. No changes to FC activities or housing/gardening in years other than the occasionally workshop level cap bump. Those unmemorable endwalker dungeons where you have to click a different lever 12 times or whatever were lame too, hence why nobody ever really farmed them. And the endwalker relic grind speaks for itself really. It doesn't even exist as a grind. Also, the equipment tiers make grinding savages pretty unrewarding. Why slog through a month of static raiding the same 4 fights (yawn) when the weapons are going to be replaced within a couple months, and are only useful in the savage that unlocks them anyways? Also, these are all weekly loot locked, so once you do your weekly clear you don't need to log in again for a while. Additionally, the recent graphical rework and dye rework were extremely underwhelming to say the least... And they've been blamed for the endwalker/Dawntrail content draught so that's a little confusing. Other than savages/ultimates, where's the endgame? Housing isn't endgame. Glamour isn't endgame. MSQ obviously isn't endgame. Hope that sheds some light on why I think the endgame is trash.

dang bro , not going to lie this was a very touching video I shed a little tear XD. I remember back when I was in highschool and the game was just releasing & the trailer being played countless times on tv... I wanted to play so badly. Unfortunately I grew up VERY poor and was not able to get the game nor did I even have a PC that would have run the game at the time, lol. It wasn't until I was mid twenties that I had a 300 dollar laptop and decided to give it a try on steam..I believe this was back in 2014/2015 I think when Rohan was endgame. I've always been such a huge Tolkien fan ever since my 7th grade language arts teacher introduced it to us and had us read the hobbit and later on when introduce me to the LOTR books and more. Ever since that point I was in love with it. It was such a magical experience like nothing else, LOTRO will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart it was actually my very first MMO and living and breathing in such a vast open world where it was so apparent that it was created with nothing but love was amazing and something you just don't see with newer games. I always find myself coming back to the game here and there and this most recent time on the Angmar server, something about this game is just so breathtakingly immersive even though the graphics aren't greatest, it's just being in the world , it REALLY feels like middle earth..truly! great video, look forward to more and to more guides in the coming updates of the Angmar server !

Love the game, always have and always will. This, Vanilla - Wotlk WoW and Star Wars Galaxies are my two biggest childhood memory filled online experiences (other than COD and Battlefield with the boiz lol). Exploring, meeting people, sandboxing, rp'ing, etc etc. Modern MMO experiences just don't offer the same feeling anymore. Hopefully stuff like Monsters and Memories and Ashes of Creation can help fill that void. But as someone whos about to turn 29, I still remember min maxing and meta guides from pre LOTRO release. Star Wars Galaxies, 2004, I was a stupid kid and following guides cause I didnt know what I was doing. Same with other games like Fable and Diablo 2. Guides and wikis were 100% starting back then and pretty popular (in my experience at least). I eventually just stopped using those though, after a family friend explained his stories of discovery. Great times.

I consider myself a "competitive player" in the sense that I want BiS items and I guess that is what a "competitive player" would be in LOTRO? I play alot of games, from APEX to Lineage... I am able to enjoy a wide range of games. LOTRO is a chill MMO, alot of people only play for the story and such. I feel like the "raider scene" is a very small percent of the playerbase. I enjoy it all, personally. The world, the quests, the graphic design.... it's a gem of a game for any gamer that loves LOTR.

Same, its been so long since I've played. A lot of the servers are so dead now. Its hard to get into the game when there isn't a thriving community. People always talk about how the game is still very alive, but I never see that when I'm online, and I'm not willing to pay the monthly subscription to find out. Its a real shame, because I LOVE LOTR, and I love LOTRO as well, its so nostalgic, but a healthy player base is what makes an MMO. LOTRO is almost at the point where they could just sell it as a single player experience now.
