Thanks Jay. Just a little quick vid to let you guys in on what I'm working on. I got really cool tricks for storm drains. Can't wait to show you guys.

Isn't fixture unit a built-in type parameter instead of a instance parameter? Don't you have to create a new type for every floor drain/outlet with differnt catchment area?

This is an old video. I've since come up with a better strategy that's a little more complex. Check out the video here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/jnea4HujioRlgYo

How do you get around the various roof SQFT using the same roof drain family, it is my understanding that the WFU is a shared parameter and not an instants base?

Good question. Id think you could make the wfu an instance parameter. You might have to create a new parameter that is linked to the wfu. But having said that id probably put storm drains on a hydronic system and track the GPM in the pipe. I'd put a parameter inside the drain fixture that is linked to the connector as a gpm. I'd also have a parameter that lets you input SF. I'll be doing a video on this soon.

@@mep_guy After posting on this I tried that. Made a Flow parameter that worked with GPM and changed the calculation of the pipe connection to preset and the system classification to domestic cold water and it worked. make sure that the tag for the pipe had GPM turned off and i made a SQFT suffix instead. thanks for your videos.

Hi can you also include pipe sizing for plumbing using Fixture unit value both water supply and drainage system.. thanks

I'll definitely be going over all the pipe sizing you'll need to know in the course.

Thank you very much for your videos. Unrelated to this topic....can you do a master's class on no-hub coupling fittings (how to easily add them, issues, best practices, etc.)? Thank you. Big fan.

Yea that sounds like a good course. Would this be for modeling as built? Are you on the contractor side or design side. Can you put a link to a video showing what you're talking about? I'm very interested in what you're talking about but want to make sure we're talking about similar topics.

Can you please tell me how to use Manifold in Revit. I can’t find it
@mep_guy

Not sure what you mean by "manifold". A manifold in plumbing is simply a Large Pipe that is used for connections of smaller pipes. Google pipe manifold and that's what it is. I see this term get misused a lot.

Hey, always watching your great videos!! 👀I use storm calculations in hydronic return system, connectors with a flow in preset configuration with this formula: drainage area in sqm x rain rate mm/h /60 its a flow in liters per minute, and i verify with tags the minimum diameter and re calculate the velocity to works with wet section in 2/3 (fluids with no pressure). I kinda like this way.. what do you say ?? Too much work around?? Its too bad that revit dont have the configurations for no pressure fluids.. thanks for these videos 🙌🏻

I think using the hydronic return system is a viable option. I guess I picked the sanitary system, since storm is a drainage system. I think my main reason (I think lol) for using a sanitary system was to use the WFU parameter. This is a built in shared parameter family, so I don't have to use shared parameters. I think the tag idea is cool. You might want to try using a view template that colors pipe in RED when its undersized or oversized. I haven't done this yet, but know it's possible. I'm going to do a full course on Storm Drainage in the near future, with a custom drain fixture that I made a long time ago. I think you'll like it a lot. Also, Wouldn't you want your flow connector to be out? Or does that affect the functionality?

@@mep_guy Sorry, I use out connector ! Preset and system its just for loop systems, right? And yeah, its possible, i made it today, colors pipes by an or filter with and sets of diameter and flow, and so goes on! Cant wait to see this course, the only problem is that i dont earn in dollars, keep it cheap! hahahaha :(

@@julianocanarinfernandes6614 Well it's available right now for $99 on my website. I hope that's a manageable price for you. If you want to learn plumbing design in revit, it's the best thing you can get (in my opinion lol).
