Hello. Evi! May i ask for the last movement, do i breath out when the leg goes down to the bed, and breathe in when the leg moves up. Thanks!

What can I do to release my sacrum which is tilted backwards and sheared and too painful to lie on and causing hyperlordosis in back which is jammed up in middle T10 forced forward, thoracic spine flat, hump at top, neck hyper lordotic in middle. Everything so tight and painful need to release it enough to lie on my back to do this?

Thanks for this video. I found that my hips are so tight, that I had to adjust myself and actually lie on my side so that the leg would fall towards the other one. Is that OK?

Thomas Michalski It is hard to answer without seeing exactly what you are doing. So are you lying on your side with knees bent and lifting the top leg up contracting the lateral hip rotators and then slowly letting the leg fall toward the other one releasing the tight muscles? That would work also. Make sure that you don't get into pain when you do the exercise and that you feel less tight and more relaxed in your hips afterwards. So you first tighten the already tight muscles a little more and then go into a slow controlled release, which is the most important part of the movement. Is there a Clinical Somatic Educator or Hanna Somatic Educator in your area? It might be good to have a private session first. Hope this is helpful. Evi Hofmann novavitasomatics.com

Thanks for our reply. I've been doing Somatics since 2013. I know to go small on the contraction and slow on the release. I had chronic pain from 2008-2013, but Somatics got me back on the golf course and tennis court again. That said, I do struggle with aches and pains due to competing at a fairly high level in tennis. My hips and buttocks have always been tight. Lying on my side just makes it easier to use gravity to release.
