I've had speeds 200+ I've also had speeds dip to below 15mbps. Starlink is not stable as far as speed. However my average is higher. I was averaging 50mbps in northern Indiana. Now it's closer to 80. I can download around 35-40 gigs in an hour. Which is far better than the 10mbps I was getting with CenturyLink. I have the normal starlink I pay $120 a month. I did pay the $1900 for the upgraded dish since I constantly have bad weather. I will say it's impressive how well starlink works in bad weather. I've only had it drop once and it was for half an hour during a really bad snowstorm when we got 12" of snow overnight.

Using Ookla Speedtest upload 7.85Mbps and download 194Mbpd I did experience some network no service for an hour yesterday. It seems faster uploads as a few months I was getting only around 2Mbps. My connection numbers via Speedtest are 48ms ping, 25.2 mbps down, 8.49 up. With the starlink test, I have 69 ms latency, 32 mbps down and 32 mbps up. I wanted to do the factory that you mention3 in this post. But, I wanted to make sure I understood you correctly. I believe you said that I could either do the 6 time unplug/replug way or the way where I just click the reset button. If you get me clear on that, I will get right on it and let you know what happens

Ethelton, Saskatchewan Average of 10 tests - 173 down, 13.5 up, 94.8 latency. Minimums 38 D, 8 U, 127 L (actually highest I know but to group poor performance). Maximum 276 d, 20 u and 79 latency. Slightly faster than last summer, in the fall there were slower speeds. What I found even with the group of 10 tests is when I got the worst result, the next one was the fastest. I had a group of two back to back that were sub 100 on the download, then it picks up. Just like the days when I have more .1 second drops in service that affects the video calls the next day is usually better and there has been an update issued that night. It seems Starlink does a great job monitoring and adjusting the service. Thanks again for creating this content.

I got an email saying I was being "upgraded" from the beta to "full residential" service. Of course I was already paying full price.... but I've checked the speed a couple times and haven't noticed any speed increase....typically 50-100 Down and 10-15 Up is the norm in Central Indiana. However, I have had some really low speed tests since service started 9 months ago ...like less than 5 down. So, I do feel like the service was throttled at times....only time will tell if the "normal speed" will stay consistent.

Here are my results: Download - 69.5 mbps Upload- - - - 7.12 mbps Latency- - - 37.9 mbps Our tests show that there is probably at least some throttling. Download shoots up to 350 or 400 then slowly decreases before finishing well below 10. Our down has decreased slightly since I sent my results in a different video a week or so ago in which I said we were averaging around 75mbps. Our upload has remained almost identical and our latency has actually improved slightly as we were always between 45-50 before. Excellent video as always. Hope this helps.

Same, starlink was trash here in south Texas. Had it for ~2 weeks before finding out tmobile had 5g UWB access just released in my area. 1/3 the price, 400Mb Up, 25Mb D, and a consistent ping of 20-30 that starlink couldn't match due to constant service issues even with no obstructions that caused micro disconnects(usually .5-1s) that made online gaming impossible. Thank you TMobile for making gaming possible again! 🎉

@jcristina I am loving my TMobile 5G home internet, not sure about the 4g version. Have CONSISTENT pings finally, 15ms min, 40ms max. With starlink it ranged from 20-500ms for some reason, no obstructions, ground station 45 miles from me and would get constant micro disconnects causing lag/stuttering in games or even disconnects. Tmobile avg 350-400Mb/s UP, 40-50Mb/s D. Starlink was lucky to hit 100 U/15 D. Tmobile = $50/month with autopay($55 w/o), starlink was getting me for 150 for roam. Please do your review on TMobile soon, the people deserve to know how much better and cheaper of an option they could have access to! Also, make sure anyone calls for service as their coverage map updates don't always keep up with actual updates!

Not so here in North Wisconsin. My download speeds have dropped notably in the last month. I'm on Residential, yet paying the premium for the underserved. I was seeing daytime speeds down of 150+ on average, peak down would drop to 50. Upload ranged from 14-20 off peak, but 12-15 peak. Now off peak looks more like 50-70/10-14 and peak down 15-35/up 5-12. Not happy right now, and have contacted support.

Sure appears to be the case. Recent software upgrade as well. PNW 20 miles SW of Seattle. Low down 110 mbps, low up 7.6 mbps / high down 200+, high up 12+ ... middle numbers seem to be 150 down 10 up. Speeds still drop a bit during 5pm-11pm, but otherwise speeds are definetly up! Also, I had an additional mesh router about a month ago that would not connect so I just stuck with the other one. BUT with the new software upgrade, the Starlink app had it listed as disconnected and would I like to reconnect? I did ... success after renaming the mesh router. Now I have the 2 mesh routers I wanted. Very cool. I still pay $110, although my brother just bought his kit and pays $120 - residential.

I'm on portability, and in Seattle area and I can, in non peak hours, get speeds 130 Mbps+, in peak hours, usually about 50 Mbps. I've been pleased with Starlink so far. A few outages here and there due to trees and the occasional heavy rain or snow, but where I live, the fastest available land based internet, is dsl and it's at the tail end of service with a shattering speed at BEST of 1 Mbps. So yeah, Starlink is a game changer for me.

I cancelled my starlink 3 weeks ago and switched to tmobile home internet. Apparently I'm not the only one. I believe this may be the cause. It reached saturation and some of us have gotten tired of the throttling and cost. $50 a month for 600mb download speeds is a no brainers and tmobile will not over sell in one area apparently.

@@jcristina sure! I will say I purchased a Mimo 4x4 antenna to try and get as much bandwidth as possible. It has given me crazy fast speeds. The gateway alone in a window averages 60mbps and 150mbps on a good day. My ping has been stable from 30 to 40 (well enough for gaming with friends). Once I added the Mimo it jumped to the 400s to the highest I've seen around 600mbps for downloads. So far I'm impressed especially for being in a rural area in North Carolina.

I haven’t cancelled Starlink, yet, but speeds have improved a bit, especially DOWN. I’m seeing 130 Mbps at times, and averaging around 100 Mbps. UP is so-so, around 10-12 Mbps, in the L.A. area. One of the reasons I was going to cancel was because speeds had degraded in the past few months, so paying more for less was not in the plan. I am now thinking it over, and may hang on for another 30 days to see if the speed gains are real. 😅

FYI, we normally assume RF will travel at speeds of 5.3 uSec per mile terrestrially at UHF (this is a rough approximation). Perhaps that is a bit shorter going up into space and at Starlink frequencies but it's the number we use when aligning simulcast radio system overlap. Converted to km which seems to be what the world uses, that means a Starlink satellite directly overhead at 540km (not accounting for any angle variations from 90° straight up), would be 1.77 mSec. So theoretically, the latency of satellite communications for Starlink should be able to be reduced quite a bit from the "normal" 70 mSec latency that we've been seeing. i.e. 5.3 uSec x 335.55 miles (540 km average Starlink orbital height). Of course, that means roundtrip time would be at least 7.08 mSec, not accounting for any other latencies.

My speeds have been decreasing since the first of the year. I live in Northeast GA. Last year I was seeing speeds of over 100up and 13 down. I haven't seen 100 since Jan10th, and my uploads have now dropped this month to around 3Mbps. I can barely stream. The TV constantly switches over to sd from an hd signal because of the lower speeds. I average around 50-60 in the morning and it drops from there. I'm certainly not seeing any kind of increase. I don't test regularly, so I can't say anything definitively, but I can see slow downs on my computer's refresh rate and my tv's streaming. I haven't seen anything about an upgrade to full residential.

I understand your assessment of throttling internet traffic. However, I don't know if it applies to Starlink because their algorithm for determining which satellite(s) to utilize is not known. Cell phones most likely use the strongest signal to hand off to different towers, but Starlink must use a different algorithm to determine which satellite to use. Matrix math and Fourier transforms could be used because I think determining signal strength between satellites would be very difficult. Utilizing those or different algorithms could cause data speed variation that appears to be throttling. It is true that Starlink like any other provider can throttle or prioritize data, but I am skeptical that they are doing it beyond what they publish.

I just got the email to get Starlink and have 4 days left to accept. Originally I was struggling to find internet in my area, but within the last month I found the new T-Mobile that is getting me 100-200mbs on average for $55/mo with the internet needing regular resetting or the speeds drop really low. I really want to try out Starlink but am wondering if the $700 down payment plus $70 extra a month and the chance of more regularly cutting out during storms would be worth it. Would it be worth to try it out if you don’t want to put holes in your roof to try it with the possibility of returning it? HELP! Only 4 days to decide! Plz

It's not making much of a difference to me. I've been getting these 30 to 50mbit downloads since we got Starlink over 2 years ago. My price is going up to $120 though. Sigh 😔
