This film of Peter Boorman, Organist of Saint Davids Cathedral between 1953 and 1977, was first broadcast on BBC 2 (TWO) on Sunday 1st March 1970 at 22.55.
The Radio Times described the programme thus:
"Organ, Organ...all the time... is the life of Peter Boorman, organist and choirmaster of the remote and, to some, romantic Cathedral of St Davids. He is a patient man, but in this film he takes this chance - on the day of the Patron Saint - to protest against the way in which the loveliest building in Wales tyrannises the craftsmen who serve it.
The film reveals how, in 1968, the very first Cathedral Girl's Choir came into being - to bolster the boys treble and alto lines. St Davids was the first such Cathedral to embark on this 'bold experiment." We meet some of the craftspeople who serve this "Celtic Cuckoo in its Barren Welsh Nest" - as Boorman christens it, and Dean Eddie Jenkins explores the Relics, which, at the time, were believed to be those of the its Patron Saint, David, and his companion, Saint Justinian.
