Nice little system ! ^^ How many litters of moonshine to charge the phone ? And before destillation ? ^^

I think it's not very effective, too much heat is lost in the surrounding air. I'll do more tests to provide you som data.

🤘@@foxtizzo Have you seen flate plate low temperature difference stirlings, that can work with only sun ? I'd love to build one, quand ch'rais grand ^^

@@AutoNomades Yeah theese are great! But they are very big for their power output I think.

Really ? @@foxtizzo After, the interest is that "a few output" for a freely available energy, is already great, isn't it ? Imagin we make a plan enough simple so it become easily makeable all around the globle, could be a great device for many usages, like pumping waters, heat pump, battery charging...) I'd love to do that with other peoples, in some hackathon !

isnt that little generator AC? I wanted to make one for a friend. I thought you would need a diode to make a half wave rectifier for that little generator. Did the chip die prematurely?

No it's actually a brushed DC motor. So it puts out DC, with a slightly variating voltage. The chip didn't die, but the generator has not enough power to charge the phone in a decent time... The stirling engine puts out less than a watt...

LOL silly me. I remembered something in my undergrad about AC transformers, and DC requiring switching, or rectifiers. I shouldn't have applied that to a motor. I'm embarrassed I have a degree and confused that. Its for a niece & nephew. I wanted it to be a cool Shelf/desk decoration for them, and a proof on concept more than a practical one. The practical Sterling motor would be out of their gift's price range. I was going to make a card and explain that the worlds quietest submarine uses this, and stoves fans too. 1watt/5v=200mA. Its a trickle charge at best, and 200mA is still way over estimating. I saw a diode stop one of these in another video. The fuel reservoir is 10 min too.... I don't want them burning the sisters house down after all lol @@foxtizzo

@@jeremyadair5780 I have measured the current it produces: around 20mA at 2.7v. You can hear the engine slowing down at that power output... It's far less than I imagined...

It's a nice gift, even if it does not have practical utility...

I'm into electrical. It matches my career. The idea behind a solar battery bank is that it slowly trickle charges. I think that in a power outage scenario, a goofy desk ornament that could run off any combustible material and charge an off phone over 12-16 hours is technically possible I wouldn't lean heavily on it though. Its a toy. I wonder how bad the load is for a single AA or AAA battery, and if I could find a practical small load that wouldn't stop the sterling. I have my own to play with now, but I'm waiting on the boost converter. BTW you said at 2.7V? My phone needs at least 5v on the battery side. Did you measure the mA after your boost converter/USB circuit? P=VI so 20mA * 2.7V = .054 watt .054watt= 5v * ? Amps about 10.8mA on the the 5v side, minus some for the boost converter's power consumption? I'm amazed, it actually didn't stop the sterling when you plugged in the phone. I expected the load to be too great, and to have to mess with the pully ratio to get the right torque. Practically, the fuel storage is like 10 min too. lol for 25 bucks I'm going to have fun with this little thing. @@foxtizzo
