Mami where did you get fresh chundakkai ?? The most delicious sambar.. I just love it. It's been so many years I haven't seen it. In USA I have not seen. Any English name for it ??

Sundaikai is Turkey Berry and is a weed in southern USA. You can probably grow in your backyard. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solanum_torvum. We get it from Chinese grocers and Sri Lankan stores. Turkey berry apparently is native from Florida and southern Alabama (from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solanum_torvum)

Ganesh, don't use iodized salt.. use normal salt . Iodized is very bad from our health.. best wishes to u and maami.. I remember my kallidaikurichi days..

Hi Mani good morning from India. I have a doubt, why we tamilian use urad dal and vendiyam in seasoning, here in Bangalore the Bangalorians won't use this both only they add oil, mustard, asofadida that it. so do we have any reason for adding this both. please reply....
