“I shouldn’t have to forgive everyone” I think that’s a really important thing for people to hear!
@tiffanyroberson9773
3 жыл бұрын
Exactly!! People always preach “you have to forgive, you have to forgive” but *no* . Not everyone deserves forgiveness. You should come to terms with what happened/what someone did and take care of yourself and your mental health, but it’s okay to recognize that what happened was NOT okay and never will be. For example (FYI, I’m totally fine, I’m not looking for pity or anything), my ex abused me for almost three years and completely wrecked my mental health. And he knew exactly what he was doing, I always tried to talk to him about his behavior and why it bothered me and he always turned it around and made me cry, and he never felt bad about it. He knew exactly what he was doing and he thought it was perfectly okay and healthy, and for that, I will never forgive him and I have no obligation to. I will always hate him, but I’m not obsessed, it’s okay to justly hate someone, there’s no reason to like or be apathetic towards everyone.

When I was at my first middle school dance in 8th grade (about age 14), I saw this boy (who I happened to have a huge crush on) on the dance floor with a group of his friends. Not dancing, just standing there and talking. Way too cool to dance, you know the type. He had a dazzling smile and these bright blue eyes you could get lost in. I’m standing with my friends just trying to work up the nerve to talk to him. I spent the entire dance trying to talk myself into asking him to dance with me. Finally, when there was only about 15 minutes left before my mom was coming to pick me up, I convinced my friend to ask him for me. She thought I was being ridiculous. She was annoyed that I was being so shy and couldn’t ask him myself. So she marched over to him, grabbed him by the wrist, and yanked him over to where I was standing. She points at me and says, “she really likes you and wants to dance with you when the next slow song comes on. Will you dance with her?” I was MORTIFIED and so nervous that it felt like my heart would EXPLODE out of my tiny, underdeveloped chest. He looked at me and laughed a little in a shy, cool-guy kinda way. I could no longer hear the music or my friends voices, just my own heartbeat pounding in my ears. It felt like an eternity before he finally spoke, although it was probably no more than a few seconds. He was answering my friend but he had his eyes locked on me. “Yeah, I’ll dance with her,” he said with a flip of his swooshy skater-boy hair. My palms were sweating, my adrenaline was pumping, I was so nervous. “It’s go time,” I told myself, knowing this was probably my one and only chance to make him fall madly in love with me. I immediately walked right up to him and threw my arms around his neck to start slow dancing. It wasn’t until he gently grabbed my wrists and removed them that I was finally able to hear my surroundings again instead of just the rapid thumping of my little excited heart. This was when I realized that you can’t slow dance to Crank That Soulja Boy. All his friends started laughing at me. And then over the speaker of our gymnasium, we heard “_____, your mother is here to pick you up. Please some to the front of the gym” He shrugged apologetically and said, “maybe next time” and jogged off to the front of the gym. That was it. I missed my chance. I blew it. I didn’t even offer one single cool thing to say. Just the face of “😳” and a premature neck grab. I went home and cried because the one interaction I had with him made me look like an idiot and I just knew he thought I was a desperate weirdo. Fast forward to now, I am 27 years old and I married that boy with the skater boy hair. He gave me more love than I ever thought I deserved, two beautiful children, a happy home, and a life I can be proud of. But still to this day. We’ve been together for almost 11 years and the raw embarrassment of that moment in the gym still haunts me.

Since Cristine’s personality type is pretty common, I would guess that’s part of the reason so many people connect with her. Cristine is such a unique youtuber because she brings this real-ness. Other youtubers likely aren’t as introverted and logical based just based upon what has made a successful youtuber lately. So Cristine is appealing to a large population that doesn’t have a huge representation.

I really like the 16 personalities test, to be honest. As someone who's not into horoscopes or any of this stuff, I found it to be rather insightful and really interesting; and judging from the experiences of everyone around me who tried it, it's actually quite accurate! When you dig into the results, it's clear they are very specific, and not at all like the types of tests that just rely on Barnum statements to make it feel like their accuracy is higher than it actually is. Also, funnily enough I didn't think the personality I got was quite right until my husband read it and was like "yep this is uncanny" 😆 I was in denial haha.

The test is actually false, I regret to inform you. The questions are off, and it mistypes people as INFPs, ENFJs, INFJs, INTPs and ENTPs.
@simbelsim
4 жыл бұрын
@@samthedystopianrat1945 I'm not sure what you mean by the test being "false". As in, how would you know it mistyped somebody if you can only compare results within the framework? In other words, the person will either find the results accurate, or they won't - there's no external way to validate the acronyms as no other framework tests them in the same way. From what I've read, the closest external validation tool would be the Big Five, as they've repurposed similar dimensions. And the Big Five is the most validated personality test currently existing in personality research.
@samthedystopianrat1945
4 жыл бұрын
@@simbelsim The test shouldn't claim to be an MBTI test, when it doesn't use cognitive functions. It's misinformation, and it always mistypes. The personality types existed before the test did, 16 personalities just spreads incorrect information about the entire concept of MBTI.
@simbelsim
4 жыл бұрын
@@samthedystopianrat1945 The test doesn't claim to be an MBTI test, in fact they specifically describe in their framework that they're only using the acronyms but are actually focussing on a repackaged version of the Big Five. Since MBTI has been widely agreed to be pseudoscientific, poorly validated and poorly predictive, it's best to view the Neris Type Explorer for what it is and not try to validate it against MBTI.

Also want to add perspective as to why people enjoy taking personality tests; taking these tests can sometimes give us insight as to how to explain to other how they can relate to us, and inversely, we can try to learn how to relate to them. Personality tests can put into words the things we feel, but can’t explain. I find some of them to be helpful, but they of course cannot account for all the intricacies and complexity of a human, so it won’t ever be totally accurate. Anyways, just my thoughts on how they’re useful🙂

Ooo it always IRKS me when people take these tests😂 a lot of people think they’re fake or astrology type quizzes and they are not, although I believe there are some flaws within the testing applications. First and foremost the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test (or the 16 personalities) is based off of the works and research or Carl Jung, a well known psychiatrist who created this idea of analytical psychology. The base of these MBTI questions is from this idea of cognitive functions. Jung realized people had common trends within their own thought processes, so much to the point you could map them out and label them. I would highly recommend looking up the cognitive function test as well as the research that goes along with it, it’s a bit more accurate. Later on Myers and Briggs took this information and reformatted it into what you took here. I don’t want to say they “dumbed it down” but they made it more relatable. Jung’s theory studies mental thought process and Myers and Briggs turned them around into physical actions. You can think of it as if all these people are introverts, the likely hood of them spending time by themselves reading books in much greater. Although this wasn’t Jung’s original intent. Cognitive studies were a way to understand the human brain and help those with mental illnesses or disabilities. Similarly, while a lot of people take these tests in a way to understand themselves, as someone who has the least common personality type (1-2% of people) I use Jung’s research as a way to understand those around me. This way I can better communicate and understand what the heck people are thinking. Also, I’d highly recommend taking the test again, this time considering your first natural instinct. This isn’t in a intuitive sense but in a how you’ve always been sense. For example when I was younger I needed everything very organized and needed to be in control. While as an adult I have learned to let go of some things, this is still my natural instinct. I would prefer to be in control and organized. Lastly, take it all with a grain of salt. If you’re reading through your results and think that something isn’t right, there’s an error in the testing, not the research. Tests are made to work for the majority of people but don’t respond the same way with everyone. Thank you for listening to my rant, Sincerely, A frustrated INFJ

I think you can actually have different answers on the "affectionate" trait. Because it's a subjective perception. People who are "physical" meaning they interact with touch, may seem more affectionate than people that are not that physical just because they "touch less". But it doesn't mean that every touch is affectional, rather more like a need of to make connection during a conversation which can basically be totally achieve without touch for not physical people. Not meaning that is more or less affectional.

@@Jadeskorpion I think the most notable controversy with Steve Harvey (at least in my opinion) was his anti-asian comments he made on his show... they were really disgusting and unexpected. You'll find videos online of him actually saying the comments but essentially his comments insinuated that Asian men were undateable and that an asian man could never date a woman of another race because white and black women would be "disgusted"... I don't know if this is something Ben thought about specifically but I hope this helps anyone who may have some confusion over why people hate Steve Harvey. I think it's really horrific that someone could even think to say things like that especially when people have said similar disgusting things towards men of his own race

Do you bring tea to your significant other when they are capable of getting it for themselves? Do you make oats for them? Do you tell them you appreciate them or try to make them feel better? I think Cristine was right about ben possibly having answered too strongly to a couple questions, when you look at his levels/results on the first page, he is teetering in the middle range for most of them, 40-60%, with one of the traits even being split at 51%. Because this test determines whether you're one category or another even if there's only a slim margin, it's not a good test for people who have 'middling' personalities. If you tried to take the test again i'm sure you'll get a different result.

I agree, I think he was somewhat comparing himself to Cristine because they did it together and because we are in quarantine, so they are only seeing each other. I think if he did it in a few months alone and compared himself to the rest of the world, the result would be different. And I'd love to see him do that, because personally I love personality tests (the good ones) and feel this has given him a bad impression. Especially frustrating as Myers-Briggs that this is based on is basically based on many many years of research and statistics!
@madgeroonii

Yeah and often encouraged Cristine to pick the more extreme answers but she generally preferred the middle response which I think most people usually go for because you don't want to go all out and pick the last option- people usually aren't that strongly opinionated on things and would therefore pick middle answers So if you pick the extremes it definitely would affect your results significantly when you do them again later

Ben I know a lot of ESFJs, they're some of my favorite people! I would say that I don't think it's accurate for you, maybe try taking the test by yourself, not in front of an audience, and don't think too deeply into it, just put your first instinct down. Also, it's generally better to avoid putting the middle option. It's possible that being around Cristine causes you to type as more extroverted than you are, and you may be an ISFJ. Especially for the letters where you were close to 50/50, it's possible that in the moment you typed one way but that moment was not the bigger picture if that makes sense. I think that if you retake it at a later time, you may get a result that rings truer to you. This happened to me taking the test twice 1 year apart.

I took this test a few times when I was in college and I got INTP-A each time. Now that I am out of college and actually working, I figured I had changed a bit, and I got INFP, but only slightly, my FP levels were both at 51%. Then I took the test again thinking a bit more about my answers and got ISTJ. It really is based on how strongly you agree with each question. If you feel really strongly about something at one moment, then think it over a bit more, your "strong" or "weak" leanings may change. The problem is, the questions are really open to interpretation and are based on your experiences.

The problem is that MBTI types are based on the functions not the actual letters. These tests give you a base idea of a type and then you can further research the functions and how they work and actually make up your type. This test is very letter focused and not functions focused. But it’s the simplest one to take online for free

Here's a Canadian stereotypes question: How does universal healthcare actually work? Like is it actually free? Are some Canadians opposed to it like people in the US not liking private healthcare? Does it still favor wealthier people by giving them better care, or is it completely oblivious to someone's bank account as long as they pay their taxes like beyyyn. :)
@kirstydaniels
4 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure about Canada but in Australia we do have free healthcare. The only time there is opposition to it is that not enough is being provided, never that we should not have it. Each state runs their own healthcare system but it is paid for with money provided by the federal and state governments. You may have to pay a small fee to go to the doctors but there are doctors that “bulk bill” which means you don’t pay anything, if you don’t have a job and get government assistance you are given a healthcare card and the doctors are always free. If you go to a public hospital it is completely free, if you need surgery and it’s not urgent there will generally be a waitlist you go on. It is encouraged by the government for you to have private healthcare if you can afford it so that the strain is taken off the public system, a positive for this is there’s no waitlist and you have more choice in your treatment.
@colin5227

for the most part it's free, paid thru taxes, but eye exams and dentist appointments are not free. You still get health insurance from ur employer or you can buy a plan. Prescriptions are currently not covered by provincial/national healthcare, but the govt promised to make it happen. (Edit: OH and its not for everyone who is in the country, you have to be a citizen or permanent resident)

In Argentina we have universal healthcare and a lot of public hospitals but also a lot of private hospitals. We don't really have enough doctors or resources for any of them (public or private). Taxes do pay for public healthcare but it is a problem in our country because there are actual buses full of people from neighbour countries coming here to treat themselves because it is free. A lot of people get mad at that because immigrants are like privileged over our own (argentinians) care. It is really annoying knowing that you work and maybe a part of your wage goes to someone that's not argentinian. It sounds xenofobic, but you need to understand us too, we sometimes run out of medical resources and not even one argentinian was properly treated because of this situations. Other countries just take advantage of it and actually send those buses full of ill people because they can't afford healthcare in their own countries. It sounds really bad when you read it, but it is like giving someone a hand and they end up taking your whole arm instead.

“Do they have a trailer? Nope.” ME. My husbands hates that I can’t just watch a new movie without knowing anything about it. I HATE it
