The comments are talking about the "you know", but I think it does a good job to reiterate his self-image.Train wants to make sure he's understood since he feels like he's being incoherent, even though he's not. It's very interesting to watch a simple phrase like "you know" being shown as a symptom of some deeper psychology. It's not just some bad habit, he really wants to make sure that he is being understood b/c his self-image is that of a person who doesn't speak clearly or communicate.

I recognize that I can function just fine absent the stimulation, but the awareness of existing as an inferior self concerns me. Might it be that the one day I neglect to consume caffeine, be it that day in which I required that superior cognitive edge to avoid making a catastrophic error resulting in my untimely death. Nah, you never know what will play out. No ill on Train though. I was just playing at a funny comment. It's a bummer that you get headaches coming off of it.

This was one of my favorite talks/streams. I loved Trainwrecks sharing his perspective of what's his drive, his flame, and how talking about it diminishes its power. Dr. K elaborating on how that's a well understood concept in eastern culture (talking about Mantras) was also so interesting. And him saying how diminishing the power of something can also be good, like when talking about problems in therapy or just with friends. Made me think about what things I usually share and don't share.

So strange, he has some really great ideas, but in the end he seems trapped by the "society and rules" that he was talking about earlier. The whole idea of "4 years of your life will determine the next 50" is insane. People don't realize how much freedom you actually have to do whatever you want when you want and restart from 0 (a new job/career, country, education...) at any point in your life. Also because it won't be starting from 0 you have all the experience from before.

I actually had a friend to whom what Dr. K talks about applied almost opposite. He would brag a lot about what he's doing, either be it basketball tricks, painting or performing and when we challenged him on doing it, he failed miserably, so we would make fun of him for bragging about it, BUT the weird thing was, over the time he still continued practicing those things while talking about them, and he's gone a LOT better to the point of us actually praising him, so him bragging later even felt justified.

Your section on Mantra has really gotten me thinking. What would you say if I thought that most of what I want to do with other people is to share my joy of something with others? It’s true. Ppl aren’t perfect but we come across as though we are. Example last couple weeks. Acquaintance had breast cancer. Her Facebook looked like she had a perfect life. Didn’t know until she completed treatment. Man asks me out. Said he was separated, looked at his Facebook and looked like a perfect man/dad. Ends up telling me he’s being charged with a felony and his wife cheated on him publicly and it’s a whole drama show.

This is his best steamer interview. Super entertaining and eye opening.
