To clarify, US Airways took over the then bankrupt American Airlines, but the American Airlines brand had some better recognition so that name was kept, but the underlying company was US Airways, invluding the CEO and upper management.

Yeah, their current livery is really dull. It's just another fully white plane, only the tail has a weird variant of the American flag on it. I really liked the AA eagle tail and the red white and blue stripes that wrapped around the planes.

Another great documentary, well done again. Travelled only once on AA out of Heathrow in the late 1990s and never again. Yes, using a temporary BA Heathrow slot, it took 5 hours to book into the flight and quarter of the passengers, and those behind me never got on the aircraft. I had to run like hell to get the flight. The aircraft had not been cleaned and not stocked with food and drink. and no refund of ticket as I had made it. This is a classic to much focus at the Executive top (make rich) at the expense of the working coal face of the airline.

I’ve flown with them quite regularly, and I’ve never once had a problem. Maybe you just had a bad experience. I’ve heard that Europe is generally home to the world’s worst airlines, such as Ryanair and Easyjet. The most uncomfortable airline seat’s I’ve ever experienced is a tie between Frontier (an American low-cost carrier) and TAP Air Portugal.
@lours6993
10 ай бұрын
@@michaelimbesi2314 Maybe you’re just numbed to the standards in the US. Don’t take my word for it. Read the thousands of reviews of airlines and compare AA and other American carriers with European and Asian or Australian carriers. They all have their issues. In the US the issues are systemic. I once flew AA JFK to LAS in so called ‘First Class’. My seat was broken and leaned progressively back and to the right on the aisle side. We had to make a diversion to Kansas City due to a drunk and vomiting passenger. On both the Kansas City and Las Vegas approaches I was rudely chastised by the cabin crew for not having my seat upright. Explaining that it was broken (another unacceptable situation) only resulted in them becoming furious with me for ‘not respecting their instructions’ and them threatening me with consequences if I continued to speak. None of my half dozen other AA flights have been much better. Dirty, old planes, miserable angry old cabin crew, systematically overloaded overhead bins because they didn’t bother to control carry on bags, systematic delays whilst they off-load and check in a dozen bags that won’t fit in the lockers, systematic over booked flights with requests for people to take the next flight, delays, rudeness, rudeness, rudeness, crappy food, appalling over crowded dirty lounges…. Need I continue?

The Monopolies and Mergers Commission banned it back in the 90s saying it would create a 'mega airline' that would dominate every other in Europe and said no to the merger. What did KLM do? What the world really needs is simple. 6 airlines worldwide, flight hour price in the region of 12'000 US$, hence a ticket price for the Atlantic of 6'000 US$ one way. No seats smaller than todays business class. And one more thing, major airports, one per a minimum of 1200 km of each other. Unpopular, I know, but flying hither and dither all the time is just not necessary.

Never mind all the people who have families spread across the country or multiple continents then. Never mind the benefits that actually going and interacting with other cultures and experiencing how they live brings, let’s all just stay forever siloed in our own little worlds, forced to consume mass media for any hope of having a glimpse at the outside. Maybe try going outside sometime matey boy - the world is bigger than your basement.
