I’ve been taking 10 mg of DHEA for about 7 months. I was tested and was low in DHEA, testosterone, progesterone and estrogen. I take it at night with magnesium, estrogen and progesterone and sleep like a rock. I have also lost 16 lbs. I do work out a ton so not sure if it’s the DHEA but I have a suspicion it has been a major contributor.

One says I have low estrogen another says I have normal. Progesterone is normal. I tried low dose of bio identical testosterone and caused more problems with insomnia. I lost hope!!!!

High DHEA usually happens when cortisol is high and the body is under a lot of stress. DHEA can also be high because of alcohol use, insulin resistance and PCOS. Did you get cortisol tested too?

Hi ! My GP has me on 1 mg of estradiol, 200 mg of progesterone, and 1.62% testosterone gel. I do notice a progesterone helps me sleep a little bit but I also noticed within the last two months my skin looks like it’s 80 years old now I eat clean, stay hydrated, do yoga, and Pilates weight training five times a week. I’m thinking I really should start some DHEA because it did indicate I was low when I took my saliva test last year I really don’t feel like spending all the money on another test. But I’m thinking maybe my doctor should up my estrogen a little bit and never mentioned taking DHEA but I’m just gonna go for it because often times we are our own best doctor . Is there a brand that you like to suggest hun? Thank you and have a blessed day!😊

You definitely want to be testing every 3 months or so any time you're taking hormones to make sure you're supplementing correctly. DHEA can increase estrogen and progesterone so you don't want to take more without retesting. Best of luck!

@@thesleepdetective thanks luv ! Just ordered my zrt hormone panel. Do you prefer saliva and blood or one or the other when you test?
@thesleepdetective
Жыл бұрын
@@labellabeach631 I use the Dutch test which is a dried urine test. It tends to be more accurate because you get an average of hormones in a day instead of just a second in time with blood and saliva. It also easily shows the balance of the hormones with each other which is important. But between blood and saliva, I prefer saliva. If you’re still cycling, I recommend taking the test between days 19 and 21 of your cycle so you see the maximum amount of hormones that your body is making.

Hi Gloria, I'm sorry you're dealing with this. High cortisol at night is definitely contributing to being awake at night. Unfortunately, bloodwork won't show why cortisol is high or other hormones are out of balance. The Dutch test is worth the money if you can save for it. Best of luck!

I have adrenal insufficiency so I have been low everything for a while, especially now that I'm post meno. I always hated DHEA because it made e feel very dark and depressed and no one could tell me why! I finally got some HRT that actually works for me i.e. Estro patch and progesterone troches. I had to start on 5 mgs of Progesterone because it cause me severe sleepiness and brain fog/ fatigue. I have finally worked my way up to 40 mgs of prog. over 3 months and decided to retry DHEA again because I am losing muscle and gaining weight. Well, the first 3 days on just 5 mgs were great! Lots of energy, stamina and muscle strength and mental clarity. but 3 days in and all of that has been replaced by fatigue, fogginess and lethargy. Is the DHEA converting into progesterone? What could be happening, I want to feel like it did the first 3 days again! What should I do?

I assume it would be the equivalent as 50mg a day. I do have sleep issues. Rare i pull 6 to 7 hours straight. Usually sleep interuptions and i do train with weights i have some muscle but also bloated. And i have another issue like low LIbido.

Buy a pill cutter 25mg in the mornings is a good starting dose A tea of fennel seed & barberries half oz of each 1 pint distilled water to the boil Turn off. Add herbs. Stir cover let sit 20min min. Overnight ideally Strain into covered glass Drink half a cup x 3 times daily. Add raw honey. Juice of half a lemon This will improve liver function, relieve much of the bloat Herbs used in wholesome form have no side effect. And many side benefits Typically herbs (vegetables by definition) are taken 6 months to a year for good results Rest one day weekly from all supplements/herbs/hormones. Continue
