Hey Adrian, thanks so much for covering the Thabo Bester saga. I was one of the many people pestering you to cover it and I must say you did an excellent job as usual. Thanks! As someone who works in the GBV space in South Africa, the incompetence of some of the police and correctional service officials is very disheartening. What became very obvious though is that South Africans rally together with humour when facing a common enemy. You should have seen the memes that were circulating on social media about Thabo Bester 🤣and we were all on the look out for him and his accomplices when they were on the run.

Sir Adrian, thank you for bringing us these stories from around the globe, because many, including myself, would probably not hear of most of these cases. Now regarding Thabo: To be able to bring a dead body into a prison, placed it in a cell, then set it on fire to coverup an elaborate escape, speaks to the level of corruption within the prison management system. For, there is no way this could have been pulled off without the complicity of multiple prison officials. What a disgrace on the prison management.

Apparently rates are falling but I guess due to the world we live in with the Internet it's hard to accept. The only thing is that it's predicted another huge spike in major crime like the 70s and 80s which was the serial killer "golden years" or there were more than any other time and apparently they think this might be about to come again due to the fact that the same social factors they think caused the last spike have been repeated.

@@Libellulaire yhea isn't there some crazy stat about how few Americans have a passport or something as they just don't ever even think about leaving the country. I still remember a true story about a student at university who did a paper about Australia and her professor failed her because "he doesn't accept papers about made up countries that don't exist". A university Professor who as part of their course requires knowledge about geography really thought Australia didn't exist. Honestly this is a true story when I first read it I thought I'd stumbled on one of those fake news sites but nope, I checked it on several different sources and the story stayed the same.

As a South African i want to thank you for sharing this story. You were actually the first 'podcast like' channel I started to follow. On this story i think it's important to note that Thabo was a product of rape, the snip of the interview with his mother she actually told the story of how she was raped as a teen by his father - a stranger to her- in his car after hitchhiking. I dont know but it seemed important to his story, especially when you hear how callously he refers to 'his rapes'

Adelaide, hon... its an important info because quite often people born into horrible circumstances are completely desensitized and can't quite tell right from wrong. i once worked a hostel for teens here in Germany . it was horror stories after horror stories , 3 years of therapy for me.

@@PHlophe Im glad you got therapy people dont realize how traumatizing it can be to listen to others trauma. And you know it seems to me that Thabo knew growing up that his father raped his mother. You know how people talk. The whole story was just terrible!

I had to watch this as soon as the notification went off. This is the biggest case in our country af the moment. May I request that you also research and cover the Annias Mathe case? Thanks for the great work you're doing here. All the way from SA❤

Hey Adrian, I love how you’ve changed up your spoken into dialogue - leading into the story with different prompts and open-ended sentences keeps it interesting for sure! I felt badly for this man as a kid at the start of the story - then shocked, and in disbelief at how an “ educated” woman could fall for such a ConMan - then just angry at the system, for being so corrupt and blind to his antics. At the end of it all I’m just grateful he was caught before he could take another innocent life Can’t wait for your big reveal !!!😊

Have you heard of teacher, Ashling Murphy, who was killed in Ireland, in broad daylight after work. In a public place in 2022. The trial of her killer started a few days ago

This is the second video about this case I've seen in two days. The escape plan is one of the most impressive I've seen in all of criminal history, and I'm glad he was caught and put back where he belongs so quickly. I would like an update when the trials of his accomplices are complete, though.

As a lover of Coffee & dark stories, It was refreshing seeing my country on here. You told it well. Honestly, I cant wait to see the outcome of this trail. O follow it daily. Another one that might tickle your fancy is the case of Senzo Meyiwa. He was our countries Football teams Captain and it kinda looks like he was murdered by his girl at the time, a local Celeb, Kelly KKhumalo. Allegedly. Crazy story full of twists and turns, the perfect cast, I think you'd love covering it. Nonetheless, lovely episode, as always!
