From October 1939, on the territory of occupied Poland, the Germans created ghettos - closed districts aimed for Jews. In 1942, they began the liquidation of ghettos and mass deportations of Jews to death camps. Threatened by extermination, the Jews had to hide in order to survive. They sought shelter outside the ghetto walls - on the so-called “Aryan side”. Where Jews were hiding? Where the hideouts were located? We present Polish and Jewish accounts on the Holocaust from the oral history collection of POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
