Located on the outskirts of Riga and a little further from the Daugava than anywhere else, Ulbroka Manor has a long and rich history. The earliest information refers to 1562, when Cardinal First Radziwill donated a plot of land near the city limits of Riga to the mayor Heinrich von Uhlenbrock, who founded the estate here. This property was approved by King Sigismund Augustus of Poland. In 1718, Ulbroka became the property of the posadnik K. Zimmerman, and later belonged to his descendants. In 1874, the estate was purchased from Anna-Louise and Sophia-Helena von Zimmermann by the mortgagee J. Buse. In 1901 the estate became the property of Baron F. Mengdem. After his death in 1918, the house was inherited by his family.
The main building of the Ulbrok manor ensemble is the rebuilt castle. The castle was built in the 18th century. at the end of the 19th century, designed by the famous Riga architect K. Haberland. The three-story house is made in the style of classicism with a portico of columns and a steep hipped roof, a kind of landing both from the side of the courtyard and from the side of the lake.
The building has its own unique cultural and historical value, reflecting the centuries-old life on the Daugava, and also testifies to the activities of Riga architects in the province.
