SO many of their songs betray a disdain for society and the trappings of adulthood; the statements they made were often hidden under bubbling baseline and guitar groove (think Town Called Malice) yet the lyrics unveiled a deeper and more honest viewpoint. The Jam have been "gone" a very long time; yet they are immortal to their fanbase, who remain hopeful for a reunion. The "legacy" they left has stood the test; they never got old, or fat, or bald... NO shitty Jam record exists; as it was done with integrity, honesty and class. The rage and disconnect of "youth" (youth being relative...) captured perfectly. A near perfect template to follow... for those so inclined.

Weller's lyrics must have been a huge subconscious influence upon my own life. Even in middle age, I still feel disdain for "adult" culture, sticking with an advanced version of the Post-Punk/Alternative Rock subculture that I learned in my teens and twenties.

I called my younger brother who had bought a Betamax video recorder and asked him to stay up and record this for me, thank God he did as its literally the only copy of this out there. I know its the one he recorded because his color tune was off at the time and all the red on Weller jacket is too bright, but I'm ok with it now all these 41 years later.
