I understand that as Australians you guys know very little of decathlon. So I will express my personal experiences and knowledge about the brand. They have an in house repair shop, not only for bikes, but almost every product they sell, the representatives that work on the floor, are divided by sport/segment and almost 90% of them are graduated in sports sciences and know more about what they are selling than other small or big brand shops. Also, they are regulary put into training and formations in different aspects of the sports and products they sell, they also have already a good number of locations is the US. The bikes if they have the same mold as Look. My god, you know they are legendary, has their craftsmanship is the gold standard alongside with Time.

Disc on Road Bikes are a pain in the ass. In bad weather, the pads can wear in like 2 rides. Then there is the alignment issue every time the wheel comes off, and God Forbid you accidentally bump that brake lever when the wheel is not there. I bought a new gravel bike just last week, and my only real requirement really was NO Disc Brakes. Lucky I was able to secure a brand new 2017 Trek Carbon Boone-7 with Rim Brakes. This was the last Gravel Bike at my LBS that did NOT have disc brakes. I am sure my shop was happy to finally unload this bike, but I was more happy than the shop that I got it. It also came with SRAM Force 1x11 and fit me perfectly. I truly do believe that all WORK HORSE and bad weather gravel bikes should have Rim Brakes and Aluminum Rims. Gravel Bikes! Gravel Bikes because NOT all roads are paved, and/or swept, and/or pot hole free. Even my Fast Racer Road Bike has Rim Brakes, and I do NOT plan to go Disc for Road or Gravel Bikes if I can help it.

As a bike mechanic of 25 years, every time a bike hits my stand the first thing I do is inspect for cracks. The one down side I see of a wrapped frame is that if a small defect or crack begins to appear you won't be able to see it. That could lead to a catastrophic break if missed long enough. Granted bikes are getting better and defects and cracks are less likely. Especially if it's a new bike and you flip it every couple years. But none the less, these things do happen. That said, it's a sick wrap job!

People don't think about wrapping because it's an added cost, there's few companies who offer it, they don't know about it.

I think it's more the second factor, the companies that do it are quite niche.

The wrap job makes me think why wouldn't a manufacturer do this instead of painting? It seems cost effective and lighter than painting.
