It's been a few years since I last did the trek down to the Piper Comanche Wreck and joined a group of people to do the trip down. We headed off on the fire trail for a little bit, looking for the small rock cairn on the right side for the start of the trail.
The trail for the first few kilometres is easy and gradually ascends the ridgeline until you reach the marker to head down to the wreck. At times, the footpad is very faint but is visible if you really look for it, but a GPX trail is always a good reference, just in case. The last section down to the Wreck is steep and can be very slippery and muddy but on this occasion is reasonably dry still slippery and moist in some places.
