In this video I wanted to see how long it would ACTUALLY take me to get every room in the house tidy at the same time. It proved to be a lot harder than I expected!
I'm so glad to have finally found a cleaning channel with someone who has a normal sized house, a normal job and realistic house messes! Everything about your channel is so relatable and you're going to just keep growing!

Wow; I don’t even know where to begin to describe how amazing you are. You are the Mother Teresa of struggling house cleaners, depressed souls, those who beat ourselves up, judge our failings and all who are barely hanging on by the skin of our teeth! Thank you for your kindness, gentle words of support, acceptance, and love. I wish you were my next-door-neighbor. You seem like the best of best friends. I recently found your channel and have been so inspired. Please keep sharing your gift and uplifting the world. You are an angel!!!♥️♥️♥️

I am one of those clean people who haven't been blessed with a husband or kids yet. I want to thank you for explaining how your mind works, how the mess is made, and taking time for self care. I was mostly judgemental of people who couldn't keep a clean house, but you have changed my perspective. I like how you said you wouldn't look back on your life and think I wish I would've cleaned more. I just found your channel and watched all of your videos. I can't get enough of your voice. Thank you for helping me understand, and it makes me want to help the moms in my life. Cleaning videos relax me and you've helped me so much.

Yes preach! 👏🏻 👏🏻 I remember exactly where I was standing when I realized I would never be happy with my housekeeping when my expectations were so high. That’s perfectionism telling me I’m not finished until the whole house is done. I was standing in front of the washing machine when I realized the only way to be “finished” with the laundry is to be naked! How ridiculous is that?! Perfectionism is the worst :(

I have fibromyalgia as well. Chronic fatigue is my worst symptom/condition. I have had the condition most of my life. Since I was about 10-15 started slowly developing it. It has become increasingly worse as time have progressed. I am not able to work. I couldn’t walk for many months, nearing a year. I am doing a lot of self care and gentle stuff with myself because I’ve learned that is what is going to “cure” me. The medical world will fail me because it’s all about wellness and they don’t work that way. It’s taking a lot of gentle work and just caring for myself and I’m feeling a bit better the last few months. I found EFT tapping a great tool. I am painting. I am just trying to find things for me. I love to clean but I have to really pace myself and I find techniques that are quick and easy but again gentle in terms of their impact on my family/me/my home chemically. I just want to say I hope you can find peace and happiness in small corners of your existence. It will truly make all the difference. The people in your life who don’t understand and make demands can just live with it. You’re doing the best you can and you’re doing great! ❤

I grew up in a home where my mother had to have everything tidy, clean and in order 24/7. As a now 32 year old, I can tell you it did more damage than good having an obsessively clean mom. Mess is alright.

I appreciate you, Remi. When I was a young mother,I made the mistake of choosing to try and keep a clean home over spending time with my youngest son. Now my youngest is almost 27 years old, on his own, living in New York, having his own life, and it really hit me hard when you said that you cherished quality time with your boys over cleaning. I wished I had let those dirty dishes in the sink wait when he was calling out to me to play with him. If given a chance to do it all over again, I would choose sword fights with my youngest over folding clean laundry. Time is fleeting, Remi. Always choose time with your boys over anything else in the world. ❤❤❤❤

@@Its_me.89 , I normally do a short walk about the place to see what is most important and then I look for cleaning products and materials to clean. I start and end with the toilet so the product in the toilet can do it work. Dry cleaning before wet cleaning. Dirty things after cleaner, vacuum cleaning before mopping the floor. I’ve tried to motivate myself in many ways but to no avail. I think getting a few good products that you love (thinking Method but only when on offer) & some washing up gloves helps but being too regimented doesn’t work for me. Doing just 10 mins against the timer in each room made it, dare I say it, fun rather than a burden. I can’t wait to do that each day(ish) & start to see & feel a slow, gradual, positive result in each room/area. Remi has definitely changed things for me, bless her, with the revelation of executive dysfunction (yes!) & her realistic and extremely wise attitude 💜🥰❤️

No one ever noticed that when the yard was mowed and clean and the house was untidy, and when the house was clean, the yard needed attention. All of the work fell to me and here you are, working your buns off, and recognising others and their struggles. You are very sweet, you’re one of my favorite people, I wish we were neighbours. I am a neurodivergent single parent living at home with my dad for the time being and I keep being told no matter I how tired I am at the end of the day or how much I want to relax, I have to ignore those feelings and clean, tidy up during the day, etc. etc. And it's so FRUSTRATING! It doesn't help my extremely unhygienic brother and his pet have moved back home as well. Honestly, I feel like I'm cleaning up after 2 children constantly instead of 1 and it's exhausting. Normal people just don't understand how much of a struggle cleaning is, especially with kids and other factors involved. So again, thank you for these videos, they're a great help.

My house was so messy then. So much laundry, floors always needed doing, toys everywhere. Now the laundry basket is only full at the end of the week, the cleaning is done so easily as I have decluttered thoroughly but I still miss those crazy years when kids were small, school runs, making lunchboxes 5 minutes before setting for school, constant laundry, homework, bedtime stories. Enjoy this time when you can. I did not clean nearly as much as you do and we did ok, you will look at this time when your kiddies were small with a tear in your eye one day.

I needed to hear this today. We’re in the thick of it with little ones and our house feels so overwhelming and chaotic, but the kids are loved and happy and healthy so we’re doing alright. 😌

When my boys were young I once got the entire house clean, and maintained it for 2 weeks...and everyone was miserable! I was tired and they were tired of hearing me go on about it. After that failed experiment, I went back to daily imperatives: wash the dishes, do a load of laundry, what's for dinner? and the rest can happen whenever. We were so much happier, and now that they are grown, I am so thankful for our family time and the memories. You are enough just as you are.

I’ve literally had the exact same experience with managing to keep on top of things for a few weeks, and afterwards, there was no question which way I’d prefer to go about my days (and parent) Thanks for this lovely comment 😊

When I’m tackling the housework, I always try to include one job where I can see what I’ve accomplished for more than a day and preferably for a lot longer than that. This can be anything from washing down a secion of wall and skirting board (baseboard) to decluttering a sock drawer. If I’m ONLY doing the daily tasks, which will be there again tomorrow, it is soul destroying, and feels pointless to me. I need to feel like I’m making some kind of progress in order to keep going.

I love your videos! My kids are adults now and I live in a small house but can't manage much due to chronic illness. One thing I did learn was to do what you do and to give the kids the jobs that they do best at. My youngest daughter has executive function issues and found tidying a whole room impossible when she was little but she excelled at sorting small areas and putting things in it to make it look beautiful. She was also a very good cook and so she often cooked meals instead of doing the big cleaning. If she is home now, the best way for her to help is if I write out exactly what needs to be done task by task. She finds this much less overwhelming than if I just say could you clean the kitchen. You are a really ace mum - it took me years to learn some of the things you are doing. Your boys are lucky to have you. xxx

Don't be hard on yourself , it took me years to learn how decluttering and cleaning works for me . I have adhd and easily distracted sometimes . My mother used to go crazy about all the stuff I had and the speed at which my bedroom became a mess again .

I really like the way you show reality and the thoughtful way you narrate. You help me understand what I am feeling and what my feelings mean. You especially make me feel better about myself because I am not the only person. You really DO make me feel less alone. Thank you. ❤ You do such a Good job! People assume that we didn’t ever clean because their lives don’t look like ours. We are just different people and each lifestyle includes different things. For instance an investment banker in a New York penthouse is not going to have the same level of dirt and tools and animals and etc as a homesteader in a rural area. Blessings on your channel and your family and art. Much love and appreciation for what you’re doing ❤

If you actually do get the kind of comments you referenced in this video (and I am not for a moment doubting your veracity), I am appalled that anyone would have the gall to offer advice, assessment or criticism of anyone else's home life. There is very little as personal, private and subjective as managing one's life, home and (if applicable) family. Those rude commenters must have nothing better to do than convince themselves that they have superior standards and abilities along with the right to take a holier than thou attitude with other people. I don't think I could ever be a KZitem creator if for no other reason than I am very thin skinned when offended, and find it almost impossible to ignore, forgive or forget when I feel wronged or insulted. You keep right on doing what you do, exactly the way you do it, as it is very inspirational to see a realistic looking, sounding, living person who is struggling to make it all work.

I was never taught how to clean, and the clutter/chaos is driving me mad. Thank you for bringing attention to neurodivergence and the fact that there’s multiple types of OCD.

I love love love your videos. I struggle with ADHD and depression because I don't allow myself to grieve. Your words are so heartfelt and I feel like I'm seen and understood. I always had that little voice in my head saying, "You're a failure and a bad wife and mother," because no one in my life understands what it means to live with executive disfunction. I'm a smart woman with a big heart, but that doesn't matter because I can't manage the housework. It seems that's the only thing that matters. If you can't clean your house well enough, you're worthless. But your content shows me that I am not alone. I really want to tidy up my apartment in a tolerable state but it's so hard working full time, taking care of my elderly neighbor and having time for family and friends. Sorry for my English, I'm from Germany. I bless you for your realistic content and encouragement.

I was thrilled when I saw a full length video this morning. I sat down, had a cuppa and enjoyed every minute of it. I wish you had more time to create these, but you make such great decisions when it comes to house, kids and Charlie...I understand. Definitely would love to see you tackle the decluttering series. Take care of you and thank you for all the effort you put in...everywhere!

Just found you and am really enjoying your videos. Thanks for mentioning the Living Hell that is menopause. Sometimes it feels like women can't get a break at any point in their lives. Why is anyone hassling you about keeping your entire house tidy all the time? Unless they live there, why do they really care? Your family is healthy and happy - isn't that what matters? You're doing super great, really and truly :)

Hi Remi. To follow on my rant. I can tell you that the priority you put on Charlie and your children is the important part of your balanced approach to life. And your message of acceptance to all of us who struggle to maintain an acceptable home is priceless. Your willingness to expose your home space and imperfections makes you so incredibly relatable. Keep up the good work!! I admire you and you inspire me. Thankyou so much.

I so remember the days of non-stop cleaning when the children were smaller and one thing I did to help my sanity was get rid of the small piece toys, they are absolutely impossible to keep up with, and just keep the larger things. Also, my kids had too much stuff period, adding to it every Christmas and birthday. So I purged and kept the larger items. You can wear yourself out with a mess of your own making I learned. I’m glad to hear you say they won’t remember the clean house, but they will remember the time you spent with them, so true! God bless you and your precious family with joy, love, peace, and rest.

I think people who have an easy time keeping things clean just don’t have much stuff. If you’re really overwhelmed with it all, perhaps try decluttering. I also try to have a home for everything I own. It reduces the decision fatigue when tidying.

Remi, You have encouraged me via your videos. I just started to clean up faster and changed my strategies and just did what I could. Either a goal of a certain tasks by category (clothes, windows, dusting) or by time chunks. I used to do it by room which takes longer. Sometimes I watch you video before I get started to get me motivated. I’m 59 years old, and I struggle to keep a tidy house. So you’re not alone in this world I haven’t watch this video yet but since it was posted an hour ago, I hope you read it. Keep up the good work with your videos and sharing this vulnerability. I know you’ll grow from this experience! Much love from the 🇺🇸 ❤️ In Chicago, Illinois

Your videos inspire me. Don't worry about people who are negative. Don't even waste your time explaining yourself to them. If they are that upst because you didn't put clean clothes straight away, then these videos aren't for them. Ignore them & let them move on to another channel. Some people are just miserable and they judge vs. being kind. Thank You !
