My dad is from the American South, where evangelical churches like this are allover. He bought a home from a pastor down there one time. Did a bunch of research and my dad agreed to pay him what he asked for the land but made him sign a legal letter that guaranteed the price and locked him in. Pastor realized the property was worth 4 times that. I was horrified and asked my dad why he scammed him like that. In his research, he discovered the pastor scammed a widow out of lakefront property BY DRIVING TO THE HUSBAND'S FUNERAL and basically refusing to leave until she signed the property over at a loss. Generally that small town hated outsiders, but that trip neighbors kept introducing themselves to my dad and quietly approving of how he handled it. He started the story of what the pastor did with, "I was raised down here and I ain't never met an honest pastor. They're dirtier than snakes and sure as (head nod for shit) It I found his dirt."

‘Persecution’ isn’t calling out the rich pastors for being abundantly wealthy on the backs of their congregations. Persecution is being harmed or killed solely for being a Christian. There's something unique about American brand Christians, who are very different from actual Christians, who are convinced that they are constantly under attack. This often goes hand-in-hand with the disaster that is politics, due to the two overlapping, where the right is convinced that every random thing is an attack against them specifically. As an outsider looking in, it's fascinating and terrifying.

The same folks that told me when I was young that Clinton should’ve been out of office for a blowjob (which I don’t like him either and don’t agree it was fully consensual, but neither here nor there), are now absolutely rabid over Trump. Starbucks is of the devil because they had a red cup at Christmas, but they’ll go into debt over presents, which breaks several biblical rules. Women can’t have abortions, but school kids can starve all day at home or in school because it’s a ‘parent’s responsibility to provide a kindergartner with food’. Patriotism has somehow engrained itself into the religion, yet these ‘Land of the Free’ folks want to take away the rights of gay adults because they’re scared of them in the ‘Home of the Brave’. The ones that preached women should stay at home are fine with jobs paying so little that now moms HAVE to work to help keep a roof over their children’s heads. ‘The meek shall inherit the Kingdom of Heaven’ is forgotten by boastful bigots who believe money is a measure of worth. These are cultural Christians- raised up hearing the name of God and Jesus but using that as an identity rather than living the love that should come with living as Jesus did. Or as the Bible says, ‘Having a form of Holiness but denying the power thereof’. They would be better off spending their time in prayer that when they get to the gates they aren’t reminded that they rendered too much time to Caesar and politics, while neglecting God.

I'm not religious but I go every month to a meet up, it's more of a bible study group I think? I'm not too sure, but they will discuss small parts of the bible, how we can relate it to our day to day, then we get the food out and rev the kids + dogs up to play and make a fun time of the rest of the day. They don't go to church for similar reasons. They want their kids brought up with religion but not the church itself and they have weekly meet ups, I go about once a month to them due to work and to be honest I mostly do arts and crafts with the kids vs sit with the adults. I'm their monthly buffer so everyone gets to participate in the group bible talk once a month, my arts and crafts are also religion based. But I'm still included and when I can go more often I do and am not relegated to the kids unless I'm not interested in today's topic. Which happens sometimes I like this. I have a tight community, they have all the respect for my religious stance as I have for theirs and we get to have a good day of just fun/family. But I know when/if I need help they are there, when they need help I'm there for them and I'll join the prayer circle for them, as they will do for me.

I walked into the youth group meeting and the youth pastor took one look at me and asked what was wrong (I was visibly upset). I told him I was a different religion, and my grandmother didn’t like it. He told me that faith is something that comes from within and no one can take it away from you, there will be a lot of fake Christians out there who just take instead of give. He let me know a good tell for a bad church is when they can’t stop talking about money or what *your* doing wrong. I was confused at the time as to why he just started talking like that since it had nothing to do with my dilemma, but after a month, my grandmother switched churches saying they were too new age for her and she hadn’t liked them for a while. Went straight into a church that preached that people are inherently evil and salvation starts with tithing. Dude was legit warning me not to listen to places like that because they corrupt everything they touch, and maybe not so subtly warning me to not be swayed by their theatrics.

Our old pastor, had money and was wealthy but it was only because he had a successful farm/construction company. He helped build stuff at the church all the time and donated tons. It wasn’t one of those begging for money while living in a mansion. He had his own company outside of church that he used the profits for to help the church

This situation is the perfect example of how important education is. The difference between the Christians who fall for these scams and the ones who don't is education level. It affects what political side you support, how you spend your money, and how gullible you are. Your education level is more important than IQ (average or above). Having a 5th grade reading level is very, very bad and so many Americans are walking around with that or less.

5th or 6th grade reading level is the median in the US! So fully HALF are walking around functionally illiterate.

It's funny how the "preacher" looked like he was swallowing nails while he read off the 7 things that g-d hates....and only the last one pertained to someone other than them.

One of the reasons I’m not religious are people like this. They’re everywhere, and people don’t challenge them enough. At least someone is stepping up to the plate

My old pastor when i was a kid used to invite everyone over to his 3 story mansion for holidays and get togethers . He had a movie theater and a whole restaurant type diner on the 3rd floor . I always wondered how he afforded it all but i never questioned it bc he was the sweetest man and shared his home with all the church members . Now i do wonder how he afforded it all 😭😭.

It's not bearing false witness if you aren't lying. If I say "I find this suspicious" that isn't mean bearing false witness, it would be if I knew I was lying when I was like "hey that guy stole something." Also this is exactly what happened with the Change the Channel thing, the ceo was just like "this isn't true" and provided no proof and then all the people who simp for Cinema Snob were like "see? All those women and Linkara are liars."

I had to come back to add a second comment because I wrote my first at the beginning of watching, I always know I’m gonna love what you’re posting!! Now I am in the middle of watching the video and I just got to the part where you talk about this absolute creep lying on the ground while people, place money over his body. You have sincerely got to be freaking kidding me! This is wild. These people are psychopaths.

it's honestly scary how much this church drama matches what I went through with my old church from 2000 - 2008. Like, IDENTICAL drama, right down to the rumours being spread when people leave.

A pastor from my old neighborhood used to wear the nicest clothes, shoes, and watches. Had the latest and greatest car and you wonder where his at now. Jail!! Where he belongs, cause he was caught taking church funds. Most if not all pastors need to go there, the crooks.

As a Christian myself, I am literally baffled by the fact that they had a sermon literally saying that God is not in control. If you read even one chapter of the Bible, the main take away from that chapter will probably be that God is in control. The whole Bible is about how God is in control. They are definitely false profits at this point in my mind.

There is an evangelical minister (can't remember his name but it could be pretty much any of them) in America who owns big houses, fancy cars etc which also includes a private jet plane. He went on a faith charity drive type thing to buy a newer plane because the new one could fly across America without refuelling. He got called out on it by a couple of media outlets, he justified it by saying that it's so he can get the word of Jesus out to the people quicker. It had nothing to do with the fact that he can now fly straight to his holiday home without having to refuel. It's disgusting what some of these people get away with.
