What really set The Tubes apart is that under all the spectacle and craziness was top notch musical talent and musicianship at the highest level. Brilliant.

I was so lucky to see them live at Wolverhampton Civic hall in mid 2000s! They did first 20mins doing spaghetti western music and Fee kept a brown paper bag on his head for 10mins!! They stunned the entire audience into silence! One of the greatest bands I've ever seen/heard.Just incredible.

I saw them at Knebworth 1978. I can still picture glimpses of a revolution and a prison cell with bars onstage. Made even Zappa and especially Gabriel seem tame.

Saw them in Toronto in the early 80s. My buddies were called up on stage and put in a cage behind Prarie. They dropped their pants and mooned the audience. They were later arrested back stage. The Tubes bailed them out and took them to their post concert party. They said it was wild!

i saw these guys 5 nights running at the hammersmith odeon in 1977, unknown in the UK at that time, they just blew me away and i have never been the same since !!!! the stage show , the musical ability and the sound quality was amazing, Fee and Re, so far ahead of their time. they were booked to come back the following year , but Fee fell off a stage and broke his leg and i never saw them again . get the live album and listen to "i was a punk" pure ,raw rocknroll

Word of mouth was this was a hot show. There was s&m, nudity, violence and rock and roll. Our very morals would be corrupted. In reality it was a slick band with an astounding theatrical show. Hadn't sold many records in the UK but they somehow got the word out.

Totally cool! Fee even put on a nose for Quay. I'm pretty sure the short haired blonde dancer is Michelle Gray, Todd Rundgren's wife of now 25 years. She can sing really high. Certainly Fee is on of the greatest front men but never gets any credit for it....

Hammersmith Odeon 25.05.79. supported by Squeeze. Prairie Prince played for Squeeze as well since their drummer was sick at the last minute. Awesome! Stagecraft at it's finest - up there with Alice Cooper.

Which were both Huge performances. Thanks for posting this N01JAMFAN. This is so cool cus it was in color and the cameras had access to the stage. Edited to add, even after 40 years they are vibrant, amazing, powerful. I wish I had seen them on their tour this last year with the Vampires but they didn't support at the only venue I could get to. I'm hopeful they come back to the UK one day and I can see them. I still have the biggest crush on Roger Steen! One of the best live bands ever. No contest. Thank you so much for bringing this first experience of them back to me :)
