John Entwistle is very cool and one of the best bass Players I have ever seen.

Hopefully, you were lucky enough to see him live. His bass sound was like thunder - powerful, rich, full sound and definitely loud. This live album (Live at RAH) and Live at Leeds are the Who at their best. They ALWAYS put on a great live show. Roger was under rated as a lead vocalist.

I love Pete! I do have an affinity for those who play the ol juice harp - A surprising one I discovered recently was Chris Robinson from The Black Crowes - song is Been a Long Time (Waiting on Love). Also Aimless Peacock is crazy good on the musical progression - give it a listen. Reminds me a bit of Loggins & Messina back in the day.

Started off so modern and strange, yet became one of my favorite takes on the song by the end. What a truly dynamic band. Just saw them live in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center. They were incredibly good, it's uncanny for their age. His voice sounded no different that it did here. And their sound was truly remarkable. They had a whole orchestra too. Was fantastic.

John always said the song he most hated to play live was Magic Bus because it bored him to death just basically hammering away on his E string for 10 minutes. As a bass player myself I can't say I blame him. But WTF! it's still one of the Who's best songs live, right? So it's really cool that on this tour from 1999 the band really spiced up the ol' Bus and you can hear The Ox lending a kind of Cool Swagger bass line to it. And it F''img Rocks! Thank you for posting,,been looking for good version of this for going on 20 years now.

6 жыл бұрын
He may have very well said that in an interview. However, the job of a bandmate is to play it like you love it, no matter your personal feelings towards it. And Entwistle makes the best of that "one note", with his signature thundering pentatonic riffs up and down the fretboard, bending that one note into one hundred. A good musician can do that. But of course, you probably wouldn't know about that ;-)
@kj6qvb
6 жыл бұрын
Just because you might be The Who's biggest groupie, you don't know shit about playing bass or being in a band. It's called a "pedal tone" and has been the foundation of many great rock and roll songs. John plays that one note and many more during this performance with his unique style, better than you will ever hear or understand. Try again.

Peter’s pretty subdued on this performance usually it turns him into a madman. The 2000 tour was the last I would see all 3 together. From 1993 to 2000 it seems like every band that had had its problems reunions. It was a magical decade 1990 to 2000 everyone in high school in the 70s had grown up and were filled with nostalgia. Now no one’s left. The Stones maybe a watered down version of the WHO. Roger still has vocal issues half the time. All things come to an end. Our generation felt invincible for so long but we were no different!
