Love how Roger and John grin at each other after "looking out for number one," like they know what they're singing about.

People love to say that Pete can't play lead guitar. Good lord he was ferocious here. Insane harmonics. Tapping. Shredding. You name it. Masterful.

You are absolutely right!! He puts the shredders to shame here. It is actually melodic in it's madness. My #1 band as a teenager in the '70s. Too bad Roger had to help John with the vocals. His vocals for this song back in the day where perfect. After all...... his song.
@ryancurtis1996

@@bobcaygeon4533 I think it’s also in part to allow John to focus on the bass playing more, he tends to sing most of the lyrics and let roger hit the higher notes. When roger is doing that he’s adding little licks and riffs that aren’t in the recording. But I do admit this isn’t johns best singing. Also, roger used to have to sit back seat so to speak during this one back in The Who’s earlier days so I think it’s so the whole band is more involved. Even the added solos from Pete go to show they wanted to go all in on this one live!

I think Roger is doubling John on vocals because John’s voice wasn’t very strong at this point in his life. Just to help add some power and help John preserve his dignity too a bit.

The whole band sounds absolutely brilliant! Townsend was tearing up the fretboard and Entwhistle does otherworldly things on the bass. Im a bass player and he never stops amazing me. Zak Starkey is no Keith Moon but he deserves alot of credit his playing is nothing less than dynamic!
@keithbeck2300

Right on @Vincent M! Hard to duplicate the old days without Moon but Zak is easily the best drummer they have had. He combines solid technique with the ability to improvise, something they lacked with Kenny Jones. I think Entwistle improved as he aged, scary as that is. Arguably one of the best bass players in rock history.

I have a question about the location. It says NJ, but in the boot that I have of this complete show, with the said location and date, Pete, at the end of My Generation, says "Hello Philadelphia, and talks about having been there before, etc and flying over the city in a helicopter, etc. So, what is the actual location for this show? I checked this version of the song with the one on the audio recording and they are identical.
