The story of the magic gloves describes Williams perfectly. I will miss him.

Jason Tolbert it really does. Just watching this movie today and it just struck me like a ton of bricks when he said it. I came to youtube immediately looking for this scene. He was the world's funniest sad man... miss him loads.

RIP...This was one my absolute favorite films. It never gets old, pure genius! I was 12 when this came out, and this was when I realized that Robin Williams was no longer just a comedian but a real talent. Have fun making the Gods laugh. Saw him live a few times. What a sick, twisted, sense of humor, the kind that shall be cherished.....the kind that made my laugh lines something to be proud of. You shall be missed. Condolences to your family.

Saw this when it came out in the theater in 1982. I was thrilled when Robin got this part and I made sure to catch it in the theater way back then. Such a unique movie. Since then I've only seen it televised a few times so I got a copy of the dvd...I wish they had put some extras on the dvd and put it on bluray....

As the song in the clip in the background's lyrics, Dear Robin "For there will never, ever be another you." Rest in peace, sad clown.

Just read the book and don't remember this. Hey, they sure had a lot of hair to shave off of Robin, didn't they?

I think it was basically a way to condense the Austria/Pension Grillparzer section of the story.

Did she really like his story, or was she pandering to his ego?

I haven't seen the movie yet, but shouldn't it be the Grillparzer Pension at this point of the story ?
@jaycee330

Yes, and he should be in Austria, but this is a substitute to condense it down for a 90 minute movie. Most viewers won't know what a "Pension" is in relation to a boarding house anyway.
