After a longer break, there is a video again. Unfortunately, my memory card burned out and I irrevocably lost great memories in the form of pictures and videos. The reason for this is probably water (humidity), which got into my camera and destroyed the micro SD card.
Today I am with you in San José, the capital of Costa Rica. In this video I want to show you how the soccer World Cup is celebrated in Costa Rica, a soccer crazy country.
It was no coincidence that today, of all days, Germany and Costa Rica meet. This has been happening since June 14th, 2022 and I figured that once in my life I should experience a public viewing abroad.
I learned a few things here in Costa Rica in relation to football that (no longer) exist in Germany:
1.) Almost without exception everyone here is rooting for a game - something that connects people.
2.) People are proud of the national team here and even when they lose, they are rewarded with applause.
3.) Football is played here. No more and no less.
In general, one should reconsider whether a World Cup or Olympics should take place in countries like Qatar, Russia, China or even in the USA. But to be present at the award ceremony, to benefit massively from new business relationships and then to publicly defame and discredit their traditions and social values is hypocritical.
Costa Ricans don't buy a World Cup to do business with the hosts only to have rainbow armbands on their arms demanding more rights in the country. Doesn't sound logical.
It was definitely nice to see football in its original form again. With anticipation, cheering, despair and all the emotions that go with it. No mere mammon that horribly disfigures the face of sport.
Негізгі бет 🇨🇷 This is how the World Cup is celebrated in Costa Rica. Costa Rica vs. Germany World Cup 2022.
