This is a great Hotas for Elite. And yes the Analogue stick on the back of the throttle is amazing for use with lateral and vertical thrusters. I've had this a week now and am very happy indeed. The stick has NO DEAZONE so you will get 1 to 1 movement with the in game pilots arms.

And if you get another stick, it will be an HOSAS.. Most of us who still have it, have modified both the stick and the throttle. I have recently modified my throttle with a mid detent (so I can "feel" where I'm at). Next step is the stick itself, instead of using membrane buttons - micro switches (OMRON). Also the trigger will be upgraded during summer of 2021..

@PCPAyLOAD
5 жыл бұрын
Ergonomically speaking the x52 throttle is much more comfortable and button placement is much better. However it does lack a true analog control which is nice to have. It does have a small analog Mouse nub but is no good for movement bindings. Overall I think the x52 is a better buy because it feels higher quality in general and has much lighter spring on the stick so it makes micro adjustments easier. The thrustmaster is very stiff off of Center and tough to make small movements without overcompensating.

Ideally, you want to have the X52 Pro stick with the Thrustmaster TWCS throttle. The Thrustmaster TWCS can bought separately. The X52 joystick cannot. It is a painful situation if you're in the market for a new HOTAS and I wish both companies would update their products. Logitech / Saitek should add real ministicks to the throttle and the joystick could use one as well, like the X56. The TM T.16000M should be replaced with something better entirely. Although it has hall sensors (only on X and Y axis, not on Z axis), it feels like a budget product. Ergonomically, the Logitech 3D extreme Pro and even the TM T-flight stick (the actual budget joysticks) are superior and the lack of buttons limits you to playing arcady games. The situation is much better in the higher-end which is currently ruled by VKB and Virpil. Both have products so good that it doesn't really matter which one you pick. They both have it all. Except have at least $600 ready in your wallet if you want a HOTAS. I just wish Saitek never would've sold to Mad Catz. Even now in the Logitech's ownership, it's just a zombie company. The innovator coming up with new great value for money offerings from the 2000's is long gone. As for Logitech, people have been asking for a new 3D Extreme Pro stick, updated with magnetic sensors for 2 decades now. That pretty much says it all about their interest in this niche, doesn't it? Also, you don't want any Saitek joystick from the Mad Catz era if you're buying used.

It's funny you say the stronger spring is more realistic, I'm looking for the comparison you're making because I have the old 16000M and for me, the springs are WAY too strong, and not at all what I'm used to by flying real aircraft. No, the guy from the video said in the comments that he actually prefer the x52 because buttons are better placed and the stick is more precise because of the lighter spring. The only thing that he said that is better on the t16000m is the analog stick on the throttle

So do you think that the thrustmaster has a better Precisement than the x52 Pro has? Or is it the other way? Im planning to get one of the both and the precisement is a big point for me. I dont know why but it feels like for me I hear more bad things about the x52 than good ones. Your opinion could really Help me.
@PCPAyLOAD

MrSabifa - Well it really comes down to 2 things. Preferred tention on the Stick and Anolog inputs. The T.16000m has what would consider about 25-30% more stiffness/tention on the stick and a very nice anolog hat for your index finger on the throttle. Where as the X52 Pro is very light on stick stiffness/tention and only has a small anolog mouse nub at the thumb position on the throttle which is not all that great for space sim movement. As far as accuracy they are both very precise. I have no complaints about either one. I actually like the X52 throttle better for its ergonomics but its been out for quite a few years and needs some physical updates to accommodate newer games. Both Accurate setups, both good quality but for space sims I like the T16000m. Flight sims either one would be fine.

Hi, which is better, in your opinion , between these two joystick in terms of precision? I wanna decide between these two. I'm looking for a joystick for DCS. Which is more resistance(less smooth) between the throttles?
@PCPAyLOAD
6 жыл бұрын
EagleFulcrum1 - While the magnetic sensors in the t16000m may be slightly more accurate than the x52 pros older tech, the x52 pro still feels a bit smoother to me because it's much less resistant to move off center making it noticeably smoother for precision maneuvers. Also, the x52 pro throttle feels much smoother and has a bit of resistance which I like versus the t16000m throttle which is very cheap feeling and the t16000m throttle requires longer fingers to reach all the buttons without moving your hand. If I had to choose between the 2 I would get an X52 Pro.
@EagleFulcrum1

Thanks, I've tried both and i think i'll buy the X52....i don't like the t16000....too much resistance...the X52 is really smooth!!

Everybdody talks about space sims what about proper sims like P3D or XP11 flying with heavy jet (civil airliner). Is it worth it for these sims or the Saitek x52 (not a pro) would be better for this?
@Karuiko
6 жыл бұрын
Yeah it bugs me a little that it appears 90% of HOTAS users get them for space games. But I suppose that if it's good enough for precise 6 axis movement, it should be good enough for 3 axis movement as well.
@mechafizz9159

Honestly, if you're playing p3D and XP11 I suggest a yoke and throttle quadrant (assuming you're flying tubes). This kind of setup is more suited for space sims and combat flight sims, military combat aircraft tend to have this type of layout

for trimming the 52 is the way to go. tough for space games. saitek just does not cut it with there throtle. i bought the thrust master set. ditched the joystick as i just cant cope with 3 buttons and a hat-switch. prime fire. i think its pity saitek [now Logitech] does not have a lone joystick, as you have to have the throttle. my joystick is just a speedlink hawk. looking for a joystick like it in the higher end with jaw.

Did you make an actual review video after using the t16000m? This is the HOTAS I really want right now but they only one I can find in stock is the x52 and wondering if I should just get that instead. One of the main reasons I want the 16000 is because I can switch the stick to left handed. I already own an extreme 3d pro, so I could try HOSAS as well...

I upgraded from the Hotas X to this and so far I am having a really really hard time with the throttle not having an indent for 0 Any suggestions to make this work with a full range setup? I am not a huge fan of using a button for reverse especially when it registers throttle forward as the power to reverse and it messes with my brain hardcore.

Is it possible to lock the twisting of the stick? I use the TFRP rubber peddles for the RZ axis with the HOTAS 4 flight stick. There is a screw on the hotas 4 that allows you to lock the rotation so you can use the peddles only for rudder input. Is that an option for the T16000m?

Great video man, I just got a set of these in from Amazon a few days ago and it was a good deal for the price. Although I like how your Saitek's stick has less 'jump back' to the center. I say that because I play Star Citizen right now with mouse and keyboard and I am wondering if you would make a video of using the TARGET software and mapping the Thrustmaster set to use in game. I am kind of a noob when it comes to key mapping, but I did log about 250h in Elite Dangerous with a CH Pro throttle/Logi 3D Pro joystick. Mapping keys in Elite is so much easier than in SC. So I'm hoping you could do a video tutorial on binding your new T16 FCS HOTAS so all of us could get a good idea of what to do and how to set the buttons properly. Thanks again and my name is ARIOS-X1 on SC if I ever see you around the verse!
@PCPAyLOAD
8 жыл бұрын
Arios X1 - Thank! Im actually no a huge fan of thrustmasters TARGET software and find that its much easier to simply take the time to use SC's keymapping. CIG has done a really good job of giving you everything you need in game vs making profiles in software like TARGET and running them in the background. To be safe I always export my keybindings from SC when im finished just in case future updates erase them.
@ariosx1969

I'm not a fan of TARGET either.. I loaded it up and left everything on default, ran the script and then when I launched SC I was getting severe lag, like 5-10 fps...so yeah I don't want to use that. I'm a bit confused on how to map in SC, there is 4 Joystick/HOTAS options, thanks for the reply, I'll go search how to do what you just said.

Hows the new FCS HOTAS working for you? I decided to go back to my modded CH Pro Throttle/Mouse combo. I couldn't get used to the FCS throttle or the joysticks I have for me aiming was too hard. I'm planning on buying a Saitek X56 Joystick to use along with my CH throttle. I'm still on the fence about using a joystick as I need to get a very good one to compete with how accurate the mouse is, anyways hope the new FCS HOTAS is working well for you.

I own an Saitek X52 pro and Saitek rudder pro. Although as you pointed the joystick is commited to the throttle, my peddals (unlike the telephone jack connectivity and dependancy with the Thrustmaster throttle) use usb and they are independent. You forgot to mention the 3 modes of button configuration that changes on the fly as well as the "shift" button functionality on the joystick that doubles the button ammount . The T16000m is an more than decent entry level joystick solution. Mostly because it uses better sensors than the cheap logitech ones etc. Would i change my saitek's for it ? No!

nice review of the stick and im planning on getting one but how does the TM 160000 joystick compare to TM Hotas-X joystick in feel and move, i'm use to the Hotas-x so wonder if its the same feel. The problem it was a hassle to calibrate since i had to use diff drivers(vjoy) and software(joystickcurves). So I guess i had 2 questions.. hehe is the Hotas- X similar in movement/feel to TM 16000? And is TH 16000 drivers/software easier to calibrate? ( im sure its a yes but still asking) Thanks!

Wish Thrustmaster would make their own version of the X-55 Rhino. Loved all the switches. That was the best flight system I could have ever dream of--until it broke in the first month. Opened it up and it had very thin wires, very bad soldering--in fact 2 wires came off and they weren't even connected to moving parts! Don't get me started on the customer service. I'm certain Thrustmaster would do a quality job.

i have an x52 pro. and the stick broke. it sheared at the shaft (too heavy on the throttle twist) after opening it up I'm amazed it lasted this long (i've had it for over 3 years) the whole stick is held together at the twist point by a plastic tube with the front cut out of it so that cables can pass through ... so basically a quarter of the shaft doesn't even exist I was never that happy with the build quality of the stick anyway but i really like the throttle. there is just too much play in the stick. (i did the cd holder mod to tighten the spring a bit) but the centering was never accurate. thanks for clarifying that i will be able to use my x52 throttle with this stick. off to order this stick. thanks for the video.

How is the size of the palm rest compared to the Hotas X? I've noticed that the Hotas X's big palm rest is one of the many cons, especially when doing things like flying helicopters continuously and it starts digging into your arm.

I found the throttle on the t16000 binds too much. Couldnt sort it out by loosening the tension bolt or oiling the rack. Then again, you probably need to work them in for a while, which I didnt do I admit. I just prefer the idea of a pivot throttle I think, so gonna ebay it and get a x52pro. I pretty much intend to play nothing but FS from next month onwards :)
