This is very helpful..i hv been doing weight training past 2 months and started knee pain and stiffness since then..how long do u suggest to rest after work out?any role of ice compression after every work out?

It depends on how long you take to recover - it is usually best to leave 2 days rest between hard workout but if your legs still don't feel fully recovered more may be needed or you should do lighter workouts. Icing after every workout is not advised because it has been shown to decrease the training effect if used regularly.

Maryke, your channel, with explanations on the causes and management of different injuries is by far the best I have ever come across. As a physiotherapist, I find your videos very helpful for explaining things to my patients and giving them solid educational advice on self management. One thing I do struggle to help my patients with is cervical radiculopathy, I would love to see a video on that if possible! Cheers and keep up the good work!

Helpful. I did a single personal training session where the guy started me on deadlifting. The weight wasn't bad, and I felt fine during the session, but I woke up with a case of patellar tendonitis in my right knee. The next morning and was having trouble with sitting down, standing up, or even starting the pedals on my spin bike without getting a sharp pain below my kneecap.

Update: it took a week for the pain to go away, but I was happy it did. I've been a bit more cautious with progressive loading since then, and knee pain has been non-existent.

@@NathanielDowell I really hope that mine will go away, too :) I guess I’ve just not been giving myself enough rest and overdone it on the weights xD

Could you perhaps make a video on the foot facing out ? When i align my hip and knee, the foot faces out. when i have the foot facing foward, the knee turns in. Is this tight muscles >?

So my knees have been sore since I started playing volleyballs on Saturdays and Sundays… I also do heavy leg workouts 2-3x a week…. The volleyball is when the soreness really started.

You need to avoid exercises that cause irritation while you train as well as increase the sensitivity after a session. If you can do exercises that does not affect it, then you can do those. It usually doesn't settle down if you continue to push into discomfort.

It may be that the choice of your exercises or the volume of what you do is not the best for your knee at the moment. A physio can help you figure out what is most suitable for you knee. If you wanted help with your rehab and an exercise plan, this is something that our team of physios can assess and help you with via video call. Well, what about if the Pain is in the top Of the patela, close to the quad tendon.??
@SportsInjuryPhysio

It can be quadriceps tendonitis (we don't yet have a video about it but will make one soon) or it can be referred from the kneecap.
